Violent Protests Outside Disneyland

DL closed at 9 last night, the closest they got to the resort was Euclid just south of Ball at around 10pm. I stopped for gas on Harbor north of Ball last night between 9:30-9:45 and didn't see or hear a thing.

While I don't agree with property crimes, I wouldn't characterize it as a "violent protest" This was shown on local news and I believe it's being miscategorized in that story. I saw a group of people holding signs or holding their hands above their heads slowly walking down the street. There were people arrested for failure to disperse and a few for throwing rocks at the police, who were blocking the street with riot gear. Again, I don't think that's right at all, but when several local stations failed to capture a violent protest and I read things like 17 minors were detained after the officer discharged his weapon in the initial incident yet the officer was not, I do wonder if the Anaheim PD might be overly cautious in documenting this and if most of the people arrested will have the charges dropped.

I know someone who ran into the protests last night and he says that they stopped them well before getting to the DLR area. I asked because we are going next week.

we were at a Hotel near West and Katella last night .. and I didn't hear anything.. although in the room next door our friends did.. Disney bubble worked well last night .

Hmm, the link says the officer fired at the ground and not any teenager. After watching the OP's link, I think the officer did what he had to do at the time. Very sad, but people need to teach their kids not to walk into strangers yards and not to assault people. Sorry the kids were traumatized. It must have been very scary for those looking on.

Well it depends on where you start on the video. The kids kept their distance and asked the off duty to release their friends quite a few times. They didn't group up on him until he dragged the 13 year old kid through his yard by his hoodie.

This situation started long before this video. A lot more to it than what was presented in the media, as per usual. But I understand the publics outrage with what was presented in the media. It was aired to hype and promote hatred against police in the community

Its a shame when a police officer is murdered nobody ever holds a protests.

I do believe blue lives matter has held some protests. These things also are not exclusive of each other. We can call for accountability when a police officer (on or off duty) mishandles a situation and also grieve when an officer loses their life. This could have been completely defused by an adult never laying hands on a child to begin with. Yes they should not have been trespassing across his property and I understand loosing your temper and being done with dealing with it but being the adult in the situation is the key. This is one of those two sides to every story. The kid says he was defending his friend who the cop was yelling nasty things at and the cop says he was defending his property from kids walking on it. I would hope that walking on some else's lawn wouldn't end up with me being shot even if it is trespassing.
