Hello fellow traders,

My son is really into the vinylmation pins. He loves them! My question is how common is it to find them throughout the Disney property. We will be in Disney early fall and our last trip was years ago so we are not sure what to expect.:):)

Thanks KB

Sorry I realized my question about vinylmation pins was kinda vague. How common is it to find the pins on cast members lanyards to trade. Or on pin boards at the resorts. He has about 5-10 of them but he wants to really focus on trading for them

Thanks kb

Are you referring to the 3D pins or the flat pins? I've seen a couple of the flat kind around, but not an overwhelming amount. And the only 3D ones I ever see are the ones I've traded away. (I get them for free when I purchase Disney gift cards at Sam's Club)

We are happy with finding the flat ones. Im thinking the 3d ones are probably impossible to find.

I heard that you have to trade vinylmation for vinylmation pin is this true?

Thanks Kb

Perhaps if you are trading with a private individual, but I have never had a cast member tell me I had to trade for a pin of the same style (i.e. Mickey Head for Mickey Head, CM Lanyard for CM Lanyard)

A CM that tells you it's VM for VM should be reported. :) That is an untruth when trading with a CM, they will trade any pin for any pin, as long as the pin they are getting is not already on their lanyard and is an official Disney pin.

There are many individuals that will say VM for VM (we saw HM for HM or LE for LE when we trade, usually, there have been some exceptions) but CM's will not. :)

Hi there! Make sure to visit D-Street at Downtown Disney. They are the Vinylmation headquarters and the CMs have a pin trading book you can look at which when we were there in Feb, had LOTS of Vinylmation pins to trade. And don't hesitate to mention to CMs what you are hunting as they may be able to point you toward it! Good luck and have fun!

Wow thanks for the great info. My son is going to be so happy. Didnt know about the vinylmation store, I do know it didnt exist the last time we were down there. Could you point me in the right direction for just general pin trading at the parks, any tips.
Thanks Kb:yay:

Vinylmation (flat) pins aren't terribly common on CM lanyards, but I've seen some. I've only seen the 3D type twice in all of my trips to DLR and WDW, so those are pretty rare.

With a regular CM, they are not supposed to restrict trades except if they already have the pin or if they have the children only lanyards. However, I know at one point D-Street was requiring Vinylmation pin for Vinylmation pin, so perhaps that's where you heard about this rule. The D-Street in DLR stopped doing this, but I don't know about WDW. Overall, when I was at D Street in WDW last October, they had a lot Vinylmations for sale (figures and pins), but very few of the CMs were wearing lanyards.

Each park has at least one "main" pin store. The CM here usually are wearing lanyards. There is also often a "pin board" or "pin book" that might make irregular appearances. I don't know about MK or DHS, but there is a board at Epcot and AK, but I don't know the schedule (if there is one).

Some of the best places for pins are actually at the resorts. The Wilderness Lodge has a pin book that's usually out by the pin kiosk in the lobby. OKW has a pin life preserver and several of the other resorts have pin boards. DTD also has a huge pin board.
