I used a blank Mickey for character signatures...it was 9 inches and cost around $30.

Blank and Bow starred in the new Blank: A Vinylmation Love Story short that was released a few days before Valentine's Day. If you haven't seen it, I suggest watching it on YouTube. It's really, really cute. These are signed by the entire film cast which is why I suspect the high price. If I had this kind of money, I'd be tempted (especially since they are almost life size!), but then I love to collect vinylmations.

For collectibles it doesn't matter what its made of. Lots of stuff like this are make of paper.

ETA: if i had a little scrap of paper with a picture of honus wagner on It, i could sell it and retire. (They can sell for around 2.8 million)

Exactly.

I'm not a collector-type, but in my past I dated a few people who were frustrated wannabe collectors (too broke to actually be collectors) and they would take scraps of paper, anything signed by someone important to them, etc etc. This is something signed by many people that could be important to some, it's plastic so it's going to (hopefully) last, and it's big enough to easily display in your home.

The people responsible for pin trading/collecting and vinylmation must be Disney VPs by now. You take something inexpensive to manufacture, add the artwork (proprietary to Disney), and make it collectable: You're a Disney corporate hero!!! It really is genius in the marketing world.
