We are currently in the process of getting bids of installing new windows, new gutters, and vinyl siding on all exposed wood (the house is brick, so it's the overhangs, etc.). What have you guys found in your experience? The salesmen all have horror stories about the other companies, so I want to hear from you. Is it better to go with the really expensive Champion windows or does any 2-paned insulated vinyl window good?

Thanks.

We recently put in new windows on the front side of the house (one picture window and 7 double hungs) from www.gilkey.com. We looked at several manufacturers and decided on them. We were impressed with what we learned about the various choices and have been VERY pleased, both with the installation and performance since. We did install a new patio sliding door several years ago, went with Pella on that one. Are very happy with that decision also. I guess that did not help you much, did it, LOL. As to your last question, I would say to get good ones, they will be there for a long time.

we did 36 windows....we got the triple pane insulated windows.....we wanted to be able to keep windows clean on all three floors.....and these are the tilt in ones...they are easy to clean and maintain......we also did the vinyl siding on everything.....we had them do the outside of the window sills .....and the porches and you name it....only thing we have to maintain now are the front porch and the side ones for steps ......sure made the house energy efficient too......
