We need to replace the flooring in our kitchen. I'd like to find something middle-price range, and prefer sheet vinyl - ease of care, etc.

We are looking at Armstrong Resilient Sheet Flooring... anyone use this brand or know anything - good or bad about it?

Anyone else have a brand that they can recommend. Home Depot is closest, but Lowe's is not far. I tend to think that in our area, the big box stores are likely to be less expensive than smaller retailer.

TIA

I was looking at a commercial product, but at the time, with all the road sand, salt product they put on the roads, I went with ceramic tile. I would be replacing the vinyl by now, but my tile looks great-all I do is sweep/vac it. Every so often I'll get the floor steamer out and go over it. If I remember correctly I was looking at an Armstrong product-looked nice, but for me tile was the better choice.
Good luck-

Armstrong makes an excellent product, but like all vinyl manufacturers there are different grades, and you get what you pay for. When choosing vinyl product it really makes sense to buy the best you can afford, since installation is expensive, and it will be the same for any product. Installation is also key to a good floor that will last. You need new subflooring (1/4" luan) unless you are going down on a slab, in which case your old floor needs to be skimmed.

Big box stores will be cheaper, but you need to be sure it is the same product. Many manufacturers (and Armstrong is one) will send a similar appearing item to the big boxes that is made more cheaply, and intended to be sold more cheaply. There will be a difference in the serial number, or in the name of the product somewhere. Their installation may not be as good either, but if you are using a smaller store you need be a little careful, since there are shady flooring dealers out there, and the big boxes can be trusted not to run deliberate scams.

Subbing to this. We need to re-do our basement *** the contractors I've spoken to recommend commercial vinyl tiles. Any thoughts on that? Thanks!

If you are looking for DIY flooring Home Depot has an awsome product you can get it in Vinyl planks they offer ones that have the look and feel of wood or tile. I am pretty sure it is Allure by Tarkett.

The product is really easy to install and looks nice. It is around $2.00 a sq ft thought.
