When I was just old enough to pull myself up to stand in my crib, the neighbors across the street had one of those aluminum trees with the color wheel. Mom said I would stand there and watch it change color all night if she didn’t close the curtains.Complete with genuine 100% authentic silver aluminum trees.

All that tinsel reminds me of our tree when I was a kid
The ladies had style!
Best part is the tinsel though. That stuff looked beautiful. My mom took forever applying it -- like one strand at a time. But when they started making it out of plastic it looked weird and tinsel days were over.
I’m impressed that you didn’t need a google translator app to wish me greetings in Polish.Merry Christmas and Wesolych Swiat to you and yours, @RedAngie ! I love those pictures and what I wouldn't give to be a kid again, spending Christmas in my grandma's crowded, noisy, smoky living room next to the tacky tree.
This year I actually tried to talk the household into a big, shiny silver tree (yes, you can still get them), which would have been perfect with the decor of our new place. I was roundly outvoted. Maybe next year.![]()

Have a great holiday!
And yes, lead tinsel was the best.
