Villas with 2 bathrooms?

So today we just got back from our latest DW vacation and as we were walking around in the parks, he asked what the Vacation club was after walking past one of the kiosks. I mentioned offhandedly that it was Disney's timeshare, expecting him to scoff, but instead I got "And why don't we have that?" That seemed like an invitation for more info, so we've started to discuss it but there is a lot to learn!

For our family, we REALLY need a room with 2 bathrooms. We're at a point where we're going to be getting two rooms for sure if we stick to regular rooms, so I think it could be worth it to invest in vacation club. I wanted to start looking by seeing what resorts would suit us. I would love any suggestions. Currently, I'm thinking about Bay Lake, or Poly (maybe the new ones) or maybe Beach Club. Our big thing with hotels is location...staying either in the epcot area or MK area. We want to be close to a park. We are a close but small family of myself, my husband and our kids currently 17 and 18, so basically 4 adults. 2 bathrooms and definitely a must but what are the smallest rooms available with that? Any one bedrooms, or only 2 bedroom rooms?

Thanks so much!

Bay Lake and Animal Kingdom villas have an extra full bathroom which is nice.
If you get a 1 bedroom villa there, the parents have a completely private bathroom, and you can put up to three kids in the living room pullout beds, and they have an extra full bathroom.

None of the studios have two full bathrooms.

The 1 bedrooms at BLT and AKV have two full baths. 2 bedrooms at those resorts have 3 full bathrooms.

You will need a two bedroom at the other resorts to get 2 full bathrooms.

Some of the studios have "split" bathrooms - one room with a toilet, tub/shower combination & a sink, and an adjacent room with a shower and sink ( no toilet). I'll let others tell you more about these.

Studios in the original Grand Floridian villas (now called "deluxe studios") are this type as long as they're not accessible ones.

The reason I mention that is that sometimes people who don't need or want an accessible studio get put in one because all the non-accessibles are booked. An accessible deluxe studio at VGF has only a single full bathroom.

That may be the case at other resorts with the split bathrooms. I don't know as we've only stayed in the accessible deluxe studios at VGF.

The new "resort studios" at VGF will have only a single full bath and won't open until sometime next year.

Ok thanks! I split bathroom might work as well, I'd love to know which ones have that feature. :)

The 1 bedroom villas at AKV Kidani are terrific, with two full bathrooms and separate sleeping surfaces (pull out sofa and chair). Not sure about the Jambo 1 bedrooms?
not easily accessible to parks tho’…

Jambo one bedroom villas have one bathroom.
All the parks are easily accessible from AKL/AKV using the complimentary bus transportation.
The ride
From the Poly to AK or HS is roughly the same for AKL to any of the parks except AK which is 10/12 minutes.

Thanks everyone! Currently, I think Poly or BLT would be best for us, with Kidani as a potential 3rd choice. I'll have to send some video tours to the other half and see what he likes.

Poly is a beautiful resort but right now they have studios and bungalows. Since you have 2 teenagers, you may need a 2br and the point chart for standard view at AKV can be a real value.

Just fyi the resort studios open this June :)
So it's been said...

However, the renovated Cali Grill several years ago was said to be reopening before Labor Day and didn't for another couple months.

I prefer to give a depressing projection. Everybody loves a pleasant surprise--or to think someone else was waaay wrong. ;)

The BLT 1 bedrooms have 3 separate sleeping surfaces, which will work nicely for your two adult sons. King bed in the Master, and a queen sleep sofa plus a twin sleep chair in the living room.

So, somewhat off topic from the original question but, can I even buy any resort direct from Disney, or just GF, Aulani, or Riviera? Those are the only ones I see on the website..so the others I would have to get through resale?

You will be able to buy most resorts direct. I think the Grand Californian is the only one you can’t. Those three are just the ones they’re pushing now.

Instead of smallest I would simply look at 2BR and go from there. I say that because kids that old you will want them to have their own room as they possibly bring college friends or SO or spouses in the future.

Two bathrooms with teens I would opt for either blt 1 bedroom or connecting studios at poly or vgf

While you can buy an off-sale resort direct, you may not want to.

The price per point typically will be substantially higher than on the resale market. Also, you may go on a waitlist until Disney has the number of points you want. If that process goes as ours did when we bought in direct, it can take anywhere from a month or two to as long as six to get an offer from Disney. Once you do, you have two weeks to take it or leave it. You'll not be offered another if you decline (if the process hasn't changed since we bought 5 years ago.)

While you'll generally pay significantly less via resale, the buying process is more lengthy and cumbersome than buying direct. Also, you may lose the contract if Disney decides to buy it back, the dreaded ROFR (right of first refusal).

There can still be advantages to buying an off-sale resort direct if you are certain it's the only one you want. That's what we did for our first two contracts and aren't sorry we went that way.
