I am going to put in my room request at the villas soon, we leave in 2 weeks. I booked a 2 bedroom unit and have never been there before. I have a question for someone who has actually stayed there. (I have viewed all the pictures carefully)

1. Do all the top floor rooms balconies have that covering over them?
and if so, what floor number is that.

2. We've always wanted to try a ground floor unit in one of the timeshares so the kids could just run outside. Are these units noisy from footpath/golfcarts and are they gloomy because they are covered under the forest of trees?

I just don't know whether to go high floor or bottom.

Any help and details would be appreciated. :goodvibes

We've stayed there several times. First off, I'd say that VWL is one place where most of the views are very similar...woods. :) Having said that, here's some responses to your questions.

No, not all balconies are enclosed. In fact most are "open" as you can see in this picture.

Here's a picture showing both the open balcony of the top floor and the ground floor villas. You'll note that there is no gloomy forest of trees here. :)

Here's a typical ground floor patio set up:

Here's an aerial view of VWL (red roof) along with WL (green roof). As you can see, it is a woodsy feel no matter where you are. And the only villas with a fair amount of noise would be those by the quiet pool and those on the lower levels near the covered walkway entering the building from WL/bus stop.

I'm sure you'll have a great time there. Enjoy! :)

Why are you waiting so long to put in a request? You won't be able to fax one and all you need to do is notify MS.

If you do get a ground floor, you can't just run out the patio through the shrubs. You are pretty much limited to the concrete slab.

I stayed in a ground floor 1 BR unit several years ago, and if I'm not mistaken it was the second from the right in Granny's second photo.
It was great for the Grandkids as it was very close to the quiet pool, and the ducks would be there on the patio every morning waiting to be fed, which my granddaughters gladly did, I think one even walked right inside, they weren't bashful. (the ducks not my granddaughters, although they're not either)
It was also a very short walk to the main resort pool.
The room layouts are exactly the same as my home resort of BCV, but with a much darker decor.

It's funny but I won't stay on the ground floor at BCV, but didn't think it was bad there. Go figure.

We had room 1556 near the far end of the building. Plenty of grass outside, with a little (cast member?) path and building nearby.

I would guess that rooms on the lakeside have more trees and shrubs, less room to run.

Last January we stayed in a 2 bedroom on the fifth floor (top). We faced the lake and were the second to last room. It was very quiet, which I loved. We never saw anyone else on our floor except for the day we were checking out. It was the first week of January so I know it was busy there. It was very cold and we stayed in alot at nite so that could be why. We did see people in the lobby, etc. There are trees in front of the balconies, so you can't see too much, but right in front of our balcony off the living room there was a huge break in the trees and we were able to watch the light parade at nite. That was nice.
One thing was when you started to walk down the hallway at nite toward our room, it kinda reminded me of the movie The Shining. It was so long and a little dimly lit. :scared1:I think because of the darker color in the halls.
We really love it there. It ranks as one of my favorites.

One note about all rooms high or low, but particularly low as they're more likely to have issues: before letting the children out, carefully check the bushes, holes in the ground and any webbing for spiders, snakes and other critters. FL has it's share of poisonous wildlife. Disney time is supposed to be fun time, not time to check out the local ER.

We had a 2 BR on the 3rd floor. I really liked the atrium balcony where you can look down into the entrance hall.

I was surprised though that the opening only went up to the 4th floor and there was only a narrow corridor instead on the 5th floor.
