Hi
Really need some good recommendations for villa's, near to Disney please.
There are so many available to rent, I am finding it a real struggle to whittle the list down to show DH.
Formosa Gardens area maybe or close by?
Where have you stayed and what did you like/dislike about it?
Thanks

We stayed at Tuscan Meadows last year. It is in Davenport - we found it fine getting to and from the parks, maybe took 20 minutes or so but easy routes. The owner couldn't have been more helpful (Chris Schmidt) he answered all my emails very quickly and gave us loads of info. The villa is a 5 bedroom one and was immaculate. We are really fussy and we couldn't fault anything. Find it on Facebook at Tuscan Meadows- Our Disney Vacation Rental Villa. It depends what area you are looking in I suppose and also how many bedrooms - this one may be too big if you are a smaller family. There were 6 adults and 3 kids when we went and we still had plenty of space.

Good luck :goodvibes

I don't think you can get any closer than Formosa Gardens!

We've stayed in Indian Creek before which is just over the road from Formosa Gardens! :goodvibes

Definitely a good choice, Formosa always has great reviews & is in a lovely quiet area! :thumbsup2

Not sure if you've seen this website, http://www.orlandovillas.com/Map.aspx all the redish marks are the villa estates.

Hi again Tinks....

We have stayed at Lake Berkley (in 2003) and probably wouldnt stay there again to be honest, there are so many nicer newer villas closer to the parks I think! Dont get me wrong, it was lovely when we were there but 9 years later, dont think I would go back! In fact, I dont even remember where it is located except that it was near a huge Walmart and a Medieval Times dinner show kinda thing :confused3

Solana which is on US27, took about 20 mins by car to get to DisneyWorld! Stayed there in 2007 and the resort was lovely, nice clubhouse etc but nothing within walking distance, there was a Publix nearby but you would need the car!

Stayed in Formosa Gardens in 2009 which is just off 192 and absolutely loved the location, right next to Animal Kingdom, as said on another thread, we could see the top of Expedition Everest! Also in the evenings, we would walk to 192 to the restaurants/bars (Outback Steakhouse...mmm....:lovestruc) and not have to worry about one of us driving back if we fancied a few drinks  Could not fault the location at all!

Had booked but unfortunately had to cancel for this Christmas at Emerald Isle, it is opposite Formosa Gardens, reasons for choosing here is the same as Formosa Gardens! The villa we had booked looked lovely and the owners are in the UK and very very nice, changed our dates twice and even when we had to cancel, they have said that they will let us use our deposit on their villa in the future so in theory, we havent exactly lost our deposit:

Have heard nothing but good reports about Windsor Hills too! But havent stayed there myself so nothing to comment on personal experience!

There are so many to choose from, you will drive yourself crazy looking! :rotfl:

We have stayed at Windsor Hills 3 times now - staying in 3 br Townhome. We also stayed at Windsor Palms in a villa. Both were good communities and near to WDW.

Do you have any must haves - such as number of bedrooms etc?

yes! It's a minefield! Shop around pricewise, as I found certain villa companies charge quite a bit more than dealing direct with owners! I've rented 5 villas now, Windsor hills, really great! Good location, Indian creek, again very good, davenport, a little further to travel, and our upcoming 8 bed October choice is emerald island, which looks fantastic!! Really good feedback about this area!
I've never had any probs dealing direct with owners.
What I look for is number of bathrooms, size of beds, and comfy looking tasteful furnishings, as after a day in the parks only comfort will do!
Look for the villas with the most pictures, and detailed list of what the villa provides, the more effort they put into the description, I find the more eager they are not to disappoint!
Themed bedrooms are a lovely touch for the kids, and something ours always get excited about.
I always usually go for the villas with the nicest looking beds!! Haha!
Good luck!

We have stayed at Silver Creek, just off the 27 which was a little far out - the 192 gets very busy at peak times. Also stayed at Lindfields, and Indian Creek, and are looking to stay around Formosa Gardens area again this time.
Lindfields is very close to Disney and the 192 so accessible to many many shops restaurants etc. Indian Creek is also close but albeit slightly further south - I mean just a few minutes south but very close still.
Take a look at the map of the communities, weigh up how much travel time versus price of villas etc and it really is personal preference. There are thousands of rental villas to choose from with numerous facility combinations just pick a few that suit your party contact the owners and get prices.
Good luck.
