NOW PAY ATTENTION, PLEASE !!!!!!
I didn't mean to yell.

There are still no openings at the BCV's for October. I earlier suggested that people switch to a quieter Resort. It doesn't seem that people are really paying attention.

Actually with 6 Grandchildren (5 Boys) I go to the BC/BCV lobby just to get away and for some quiet.

OH, just look below, we will be there Thanksgiving week.
All of us.
Just a little warning !

DVC certainly added guests...

But the "no pool hopping to SAB" rule for DVC members probably has compensated for the crowding at SAB.

The big place you'd notice 15% more guests is check in.....it should take about 15% longer. However, in my experience, check in has always been hit or miss. Sometimes you walk in to plenty of CMs and no line, and the next time you seem to have arrived three minutes behind every other guest checking in that day. Plus, CM "magic" seems to have diminished in the past few years, with management woes and other problems - and I don't think the desk staff is (as a whole) as efficient as they used to be. Sites like this add complexity to check in - I've talked to desk staff who say a LOT of guest now have very specific requests, and they want them to be met - both on the DVC side and on the regular resort side. Or they "expect" a room upgrade. Any delay in the check in process makes the lobbies more crowded - as families wait for dad or mom to finish check in.

In addition, you can't turn on the travel channel now without Samantha Brown ordering the Kitchen Sink at B&C. Cape May has also increased in popularity - possibly in response to travel channel specials on the BC. And I think Disney's all you can eat meals have been more popular of late. I think "resort hopping" has become more popular - and the BCs easy access from Epcot and the BW makes it an easy place to "check out" for those people not staying there.

So while the addition of the Villas certainly added people - it isn't the only possible cause to the public areas of the Y&BC being more crowded.

Probably the DNC would've been better.

LOL :)

I don't think the OP really meant the disrespect that some of you are taking his post as having...

That being said, Erikthewise has a really good point. :)
Without offering an opinion on this thread, I sometimes like to have fun on these boards too. One person's gentle teasing is another person's disrespect, and the electronic format tends to mask people's meaning. So one has to be careful, but that doesn't mean you can't have fun.

Have to disagree here.

We have one child, who's 18.

Of our friends/relatives who own DVC:

Cousin, single woman, no kids.
Cousin, married couple with two older teenage kids.
Friend, single woman, with grown son, no grandkids.
Friend, married, with grown kids, no grandkids.
Friend, married, with grown kids, one infant grandchild.
Friend, married with two kids.
Friend, single man, no kids.

Looks to me like there are a lot of adults and very few kids in the mix. The four times we've had a two bedroom, it's been split 50/50 between having family with kids and having adult family or friends in the second bedroom.

I'm quite certain that the demographic mix between the villas and standard rooms is within a percent or two of being evenly matched.

Anne
Could be. Just that my impression of YC/BC over the years has been less kids per capita than some of the other resorts. And overall DVC members visits are prone to include kids, many times friends, extended family and the like. Obviously it's a generalization and "your mileage may vary".

Deb&Bill, sometimes I have a little too much fun.

Hey, 10drum, I forgot to add the ;) after my sentence, too. That helps sometimes.

The flaming the OP got is a reason why many people do not want to post . I am a DVC member, and I took zero offence to the OP's remarks. I actually read the post and knew where he was coming from. He did say he enjoyed his stayand he did say it was an observation. Live and let live.

QUOTE:

I just think since the Villas opened it is more like a KOA campground, alot of unattended children running all over the place,

TURNED INTO:

One evening, while waiting to meet up with the rest of my family, I was watching a Donald Duck/Chip & Dale cartoon and a young girl about 6 came and sat down, and we watched it together. while her parents were checking in.

So whats the point ?
Hopefully the parents had one eye on the front desk and 3 on the child.

I love the BCV's

JMHO but I have always felt the YC to be more serene than the BC well before the BCV. We stayed at the YC in '96 long before BCV ever existed while friends stayed in the BC with their children. I noticed that there seemed to be many more people including children in the lobby of the BC especially around meal times. I felt very much like I was at a beach resort, one of the main reasons why we chose to purchase at the BCV over other DVC locations.
From my experience the activity level depends more on the time of year than anything else. Sure, there may be more activity now that there are more rooms, but we always found the hotel to be a little busy especially SAB and BAC. Of course we also find the lobbies of all the other deluxe resorts busy during busy times of the year.

pat-rick,

Wow, is the BC like where you live?

I'm not sure what you mean by what's the point. You didn't finish reading the last post you quoted.

I've been gone a few of days and since I like to have so much fun, I had to bump this up again.

I too take offense to your comments, as I am a BCV owner too.Just like Deb said the time you were there the villas were already open.I have stayed at the BCV numerous times and spent plenty of time in the lobby and it has had hardly anyone in it.People with children stay at BC and BCV for the pool,That does not mean that because the villas have opened it has turned the feel into a KOA campgrond. It means that the BC is a very popular place. As for children running and screaming everywhere, you are at DW for Gods sake. There are going to be loud unattended children everywhere you go,it is not just at BC.Next time you go spend a little time sitting in the lobby of some of the other resorts and see what I am saying. We see it everywhere,we are a married couple with no children and belive me we notice unruly children.

It just proves a point of more and more people today have the Me Me attitude.

Misty

To be fair, BCV didn't open until July, 2002. I have BCV as
my "home" with DVC, and I'm not easily offended by the OP's
comments. :)

I've never seen unholy demon children running amok in the
lobby, but I have seen some kids playing in it. I mean, if
kids can't be kids at WDW, where can they be kids? As long
as they're not screaming at airplane-engine decibel levels,
it's all good.

(And I'm someone who doesn't even have any kids, either...LOL)

But as someone already mentioned, I think that when the resort
is at capacity, you will find it busier in the lobby.
