Villas at the Grand Floridian Presale to Begin May 25th?

The past few resorts have never opened sales with their best deal

Aulani's initial offering price was the best available. And DVC committed to that from Day One (said they would never offer a lower price.) I'm curious to hear if they will do the same with Grand Floridian.

I don't have any interest in buying but I can honestly say this is the first time DVC has under-cut my expectations with regard to pricing. Even with things like the OKW extension pricing and the one time use points, DVC is usually a good 20-40% above my own expectations. In this case, they are about 20% under.

Just got off the phone with my Guide and added on 70 pts for the GF DVC. I will hopefully be staying there the first week in Dec. 2014. She said that the points are $145.00 for members till June 18TH. Then they are going up to $160.00 and open to anyone at that time. They are giving members a month to buy in before it goes public. They aren't charging our card till the 23RD. I can't WAIT to stay there.

I wish I could see a floorplan of the studios, or even get the square footage. If the studio fits 5, then I'm curious if my family of 4 would be comfortable in one. If it's the size of the BLT studio then no way, but if it's the size of a OKW studio, then it could work for us.
It would really help me decide on how many points to buy if I knew more.

I thought it was June 19th and the price would be $150? :confused3

So we're able to put the entire purchase on a credit card? I've never bought direct before and don't know the payment options.

There will be plenty of additional information released in the coming days. Sales don't even "officially" begin until Thursday. Some guides are simply taking down buyer info so the transactions can be processed on the 23rd.

By the end of the week, all will be known. And you'll still have several weeks to weigh the decision before any prices increase.

With the studios sleeping 5, I think there will be a large demand for them. I know I would not want to sleep 5 in one, but I bet a lot of people will (adding demand for them). Also with them only having I think 47 lock-off studios and no dedicated studios, the studios at GF are going to be very very hard to get.

Eh, that's what they said about BLT, it's going to be soooo hard to get in there. I have never once had a hard time getting a studio lake view, in April. I think it's all hype right now.

I'm sure you could. But I'm only doing the down payment on my Disney card. Wish I could give out my guides name. She is Wonderful. But I know that is frowned upon here.

Did you get to pick a UY or do you only have the option of what's currently selling?

Thanks for all the helpful info everyone! You all are great!! :thumbsup2

I'm thinking of doing a 75-100 point add on and banking/borrowing to do Xmas every 2 years. Now if I can just get my DH to go along with that! He was all for it last year, but now is having 2nd thoughts! :scratchin

I completely agree with you. I am wondering if our guide meant when the booking of rooms opens giving the normal few weeks to book for owners then everyone else. It seemed so strange to me and was hoping he was told to DH wrong.

I know since AKV-Kidani opened and all the resorts since then, that for a 2 week period owners of the new resort could book a reservation first and then after that 2 weeks it was opened to other DVC members to book the resort using points.

I expect it will be the same for VGF.

I'm surprised that the cost will "only" be $150 (or $160, depending on which of the quoted prices is correct) when sales open to the public on June 19. That same day, prices of AKL will go to $150. I have to think that given the choice, most people would choose to buy VGF over AKV just based on it's proximity to MK. There are advantages and disadvantages to both but I thought there would be a bigger price difference considering it seems like they have been selling AKV forever and still haven't even declared all the inventory.

Part of my draw to vgf is my own concocted hope that bc it's the "premier" resort that they'll keep the rooms refurbed more frequently. I've struggled with the pics of the aging dvc resorts and I'm worried I won't want to stay anywhere in 5 years. Do you think vgf will stay "nicer" over the long term? Heaven knows the dues are high enough!!!
