I believe that today is the first day reservations can be made at the Villas at the Grand Californian. Has anyone tried making reservations for January? Do you think there will be a "rush" on them since they are new?

I was one of the first callers this AM, no problem getting the Thanksgiving 4 ( Wed - Sun ) day for 2009 in a 1 Bedroom.

The phone system did seem to get very slow in responding just at 6:00 AM.

It will be interesting to see how it progresses, if the resort had been sold out, I think it would be a busy day for MS.

I have to wait a few days to make our May 2010 reservations and I am hoping I can get what we need!

I got up at 6:00am this morning (I am on the west coast!!!) to make ressies for a 1 bdr at the VGC for Dec 23-26 for before a cruise with my family. No problem at all getting through and no problems making the reservation. Woohoo!!! I can't wait!!!

The first year is going to be interesting. It's not sold out, but I don't think all the inventory has been declared and therefore is not available.

Here's my take:

• Except for a few peak times, I think non members will be fairly successful at getting reservations when their window opens up in 2 weeks.
• There may be some availability at 7mo too (I'm hoping a Fri night in April is available so I can complete my ressie with my SSR points).
• Due to the fact that DLR vacationing habits are different than WDW DVC (DL used to short, last minute vacations), it might take members a year or two to figure out that they have to call during their window to get the reservations they want.
• I also think many owners will use DPs for other trips and bank their new VGC points. Availability might tighten up a bit next year due to that.
• The waitlist will probaby also be sucessful due to the above (more cancellations).

But only time will tell. I can't wait for my first trip home in April! I'm also hoping the World of Color show is running by then too!

We called at 6:00 am and got a 2 bedroom for Dec.22-26. I am totally relieved because I thought it was going to be a madhouse for Christmas week.
