Villa concerns

I am in process of booking a villa but warning bells are ringing. I emailed to say I would like to book last Sun. No response so I went onto the owner's website where you can book online. Had an automated response saying she would let me know how to pay deposit. Tues - still no reply so I emailed to ask if there was a problem. She then sent a msg saying no it's fine I will send instructions. The request for deposit arrived but the company she is using couldn't accept UK postal codes(?) I even rang them in the US but they couldn't do it. I emailed her again to ask if she had another method and she said she would request payment via paypal. That was Weds am. Still nothing.

I had a bad experience with booking a villa last year and am a bit worried about this. What would you do? Be patient or go with someone else.

Sorry can't help much with villas, someone should be along soon with villa experience.
Just wanted to say welcome to DISboards.

We did rent a condo 2 years ago, only way to pay for that was Paypal. I was a little worried as he was never on time requesting money but all went well. Good luck

For what it's worth we have booked countless villa's and never really had too many problems with communication.
Owner's are usually very quick to respond and advise, after all they need to rent their homes.

If you have any doubts about it then walk away, if you are at the stage where you are interested and haven't paid any deposit yet I would consider looking elsewehere personally - if you have communication problems now there is a possibility of further worry at later stages.

It is a holiday and you want as little stress as possible in the booking process - there are loads of other villa's out there so I am sure you would find something else.

My advice - look elsewhere (if you need any help I would be glad to assist, not that you cannot find your own alternatives) - here if you need me.

Welcome to the DISboards, cymbeline. I wouldn't have said that communication delays are necessarily anything to worry about, but if you're feeling uneasy, I'd be inclined to follow your own instincts. There are so many helpful, reliable villa owners out there that you really don't need to put yourself at the mercy of someone who isn't on top of it all.

Thanks for the welcomes! I have been browsing for ages in secret Learnt lots too. I think I will give her till the end of today and then pull out. Trouble is it took me ages to find this one. We have been to Orlando about 8 times and seem to become more fussy each year. If anyone can recommend a 4/5 bed villa within easy reach of Formosa Gardens for August under £1500 for the 2 weeks I would be very happy.

personally my advice would be phone the owner and talk to them and then make your mind up from there an as other have said follow your instincts.
I have had an awful experience on return home from a villa and this was the first time i had attempted to contact them by phone and soon realised it was always an answer machine if i had tried before booking I would defo of walked away.

Have you asked on the Dibb forum for what availabity people have in their villas - they email you then and most on there are very helpful.

It does take time I know but it's always best not to rush, sure you will find one soon.
