We've booked for the end July/ beginning of Aug and are now trying to find a villa. The choice is overwhelming once you start looking and I wondered if anyone has any advice. Is it a good idea to stay in a gated community or is it not really necessary? We have found two villas at Cumbrian Lakes which look fine. Does anyone know about this area?

Hi and welcome :wave2:
I understand your feeling of being overwhelmed there's so much choice.
last year we stayed at Terra Verde just further up from Cumbrian Lakes it's close to the 192 with all its restaurants and there's a walmart pretty close. Have you looked at this map www.thedibb.co.uk/villa-map.php
This year we're staying at Sunset Lakes it's ideal for all our needs near to parks, restaurants etc.
I personally prefer the feeling of security with a gated community.
Good luck with your hunt and I'm sure you'll get lots more advice from the knowledgeable people here.

Indian Creek is an excellent location in the Formosa Gardens area, off the 192. If you use the Sherbeth Road shortcut it takes about 10 minutes to get to AK, and not much more to the other parks. It isn't a gated community, but we loved it there last year, and if there was more than 3 of us again, would not hesitate to stay there again.

Hi,

We have stayed at Cumbrian Lakes - it is gated and very nice, one of the best we have visited.
However, it is situated down a long and sometimes busy road Poinciana Boulevard.

Personally I prefer the Formosa Gardens location, as everything is within easy reach - including Disney, supermarkets, restaurants and the I4.

Indian Creek is our preferred choice - mainly because we have stayed there many times and are good friends with the owners of a nice 5 bedroomed home - Windsor Palms is also a great community too.

There are 100s of villas to choose from, taking your time to find the right one is good advice.

These websites are all good:

Hi we stayed out beyond Cumbrian Lakes last year at Crescent Lakes and have booked the same villa again this year. As stated it can get a bit busy on Poinciana Boulevard especially during the daily commute and there were some road works at the top end last year.

We found that if we went up Poinciana Boulevard turn left on to the 192 and went along to the junction with Saralogo Boulevard and then turned right. Follow this to the junction with Osceola Parkway turn left and you can almost see Disney. Keep going past the Gaylord Palms and there's the archway wonderful sight. Journey time takes about 30 - 45 minutes from where we were.

There is also a back road (Owen Brown Road) into Walmart from Poinciana Boulevard. Admire the houses when you drive along there.
