I was wondering what type of views people have gotten when requesting garden view? First, I'm hoping NOT to get a pool view if I request garden view. Has that happened to anyone? Also, how many people have requested a Village green view and what was your success? DS would love to overlook the Boardwalk, but I've heard those views may be noisy, so am reluctant to request that. He agreed that the Village Green would be a good compromise. Or do you think I should bite the bullet, bring earplugs, and get the BW view? I just don't know which to do. This is for January, if that makes any difference-is this a fairly slow DVC time where I might be more likely to get my requests?

Why not book a standard view? If you request an upper floor across from the bus stop (for view of higher level Illuminations fireworks) or near to the tennis courts (usually a view of the pond and sometimes ToT), you are very likely to get your request - especially in January. These views are relatively far from the elevators so not as many request them AND they are relatively quiet (less people in the hallways early or late). Personally, I think these are among the best views available at BWV.

As far as Preferred - Pool/Garden View without a view of a pool, there are only two areas that qualify. First is the Village Green area. Second is the area of the resort between the Luna Park area and the Swan. There is a building in "Courtyard" of this area similar in size to Community Hall, that I believe is still being used by the DVC Sales Group. The rooms in this area have views of the canal (some views are blocked by the Sales Building) & the Swan /Dolphin. Some have posted here that they believe this area should be considered standard view. Some get placed here when standard view seems to be overbooked for some reason. Anyway, since the number of Village Green rooms is quite small, my bet is that you will get this last area if you request not to get a pool view.

Best wishes -

Thanks! Anyone else with ideas? DS really wants a Boardwalk view, but the possibility of noise has me nervous. Also, what if we request a BW view, and don't get a good view. Help!

The boardwalk will be pretty quite in January at night so I think the noise factor will not be an issue - I do not think you can get a "bad view" from a BW view room

Quite often due to low temps, there is almost no one on the boardwalk - this was the case during our Jan/04 trips

thanks

Hi! We've been staying at the BWV for the past 4 years (since we became members of DVC) and we've always used the extra points and gotten the boardwalk view up until our trip in Oct 03. We had room 5001 which is a non-smoking, 1 bedroom, boardwalk view. It is the farthest possible room from the elevator (which wasn't so great the year I was 7 months pregnant!). The view was really beautiful. We did get noise from the boardwalk and some music noise from the clubs since we were so far down, otherwise no complaints. Last October, for the first time, we decided to save some points and go with the Standard view. We were nervous but ended up liking the room so much that I won't hesitate to go Standard again. We had an upper floor across from the bus stop (I think the room was 4117). We thought the balconies were nicer over there, bigger overhang so they weren't as dirty. Even though we were looking out at some parking lot and the road into the resort, we had an awesome view of Illuminations every night, it was wonderful and less points. Can't beat it!! Have a great time whichever you choose!

We were in the BW View room right above the Screen Door. I can't imagine that the room next to us (which would have been a Village Green room) would have been any quieter. The Village Green still gets a lot of traffic - and the shows are often right in front of the boat dock. Plus you'd be looking at the door to Flying Fish - not a quiet spot on the weekends.

We thought the room was a little noisy, although Dee doesn't think those rooms are noisy at all. I do think it depends on when you go and how used to noise you are - as well as what your expectations for quiet are and if you are even in your room going to sleep at a "bad time" (people who party at Pleasure Island or the Boardwalk until midnight aren't even going to know the BW can be kind of noisy when you are putting kids to bed at 9:00.) When we lived in the city, that room would have been insanely peaceful - no sirens, no car alarms. Now that we live out in the 'burbs, the noise of people leaving the bars and the sound of the acts on the BW was noticable (but not overwhelming). We were also there during baseball playoffs - which made ESPN even more popular than normal.

The noisiest part was the Illuminations fireworks - but I don't think it matters where you are in the Epcot resort area, those fireworks are going to be loud! Following the fireworks, the BW gets noisy as people return from the parks. By 10:00 it was quiet again.

My biggest problem with the BWV was the "bad view" I'm sorry, but that Baroque abomination that is the lighted Epcot sign over Spaceship Earth is just ugly. Like the great big geodome wasn't distinctive enough.

Although I agree that Spaceship Earth was far better before they put that tacky hand up there, I think I'd "tolerate" that view. And thanks so much for reminding me about the cold weather in January making the Boardwalk quiet at night. Now I remember being there in December and the Boardwalk entertainers telling us that it was in their contract that if the weather was below 50 degrees they performed inside. Sounds like DS is going to get his desired Boardwalk View. That is, if I can get one at 7 months. What do you think-looks doable for January?

Why thank you for thinking of me!!:)
No, I do not find any of the BWVs noisy including the boardwalk view rooms. I have been disturbed by noise much more from other WDW resorts including other DVC resorts than we ever have at BWV. We have stayed in boardwalk view villas numerous times and have never been bothered by noise. Of course we are always an all adult traveling group so we are never go to bed before 11 PM or later. Which is well past the time the games and entertainment on the boardwalk have ended. We have heard people leaving the bars and walking down the boards after Jellyrolls closed but it was just people talking--not really bothersome noise AND we had the balcony door opened. If the door had been closed we would not have heard a thing.
It is interesting how different things appeal to different people--we love Mickey's hand and the words Epcot on Spaceship Earth! LOL!!!
Enjoy your trip!
