I am planning our first night dinner at Chef Mickey's and noticed that it is located on the fourth floor at the Contemporary Resort. I know that they have an observation deck at California Grill a couple floors up but was wondering if you could see Wishes from where Chef Mickey's is? I think that MK closes at 6?? in January. Is this when the fireworks start? Any suggestions on what time to make my PS's for and if you can't watch from CM's then can you suggest another place to watch and do CM as well. Sorry for all the questions. This is our first family vacation and I want to make the first night very magical. TIA

We have done this same thing in the past. We eat at Chef Mickey's then walk out onto the deck that is on the opposite end of the Contemporary to watch the fireworks. The music is piped out there and the show is beautiful. The monorail does get in the way though, so we walked up a few flights of stairs and had a much better view.

If you eat before the fireworks, give yourself at least an hour to eat.

I don't think you will be able to view Wishes from inside Chef Mickey's. Chef Mickey's is completely enclosed inside of CR and also on the side furthest from MK. If you want to view Wishes from CR, you will need to be in the CG, on the viewing deck, in a room on the MK side, or outside the resort. They do pipe the music into the CG.

You will have to check the "calendar" for the dates that you are visiting. This will tell you what days they will have Wishes and Spectromagic. Wishes runs on limited days during the "off" season.

Best of luck to you.

Yes you can view Wishes from inside of Chef Mickeys. Just went last week, had character breakfast, and I had a view of the castle from my table. About 1/3 of the tables would be able to see the castle.

Some tables have a view of the castle-- however, it's not an easy to see view. We've always had a seat (ironically on the upper level that does have the view). I don't know quite that I'd say 1/3 of the tables-- as that whole section has only approx 20 tables. However, I wouldn't use this as a place to view Wishes. We had a table for 12 last year and about 5 had a clear cut view of the castle out of 12. In March this past year-- we had a table for 4, and 1 could see the castle. This is without getting up and clogging up the walking area's.

There is also an observation area on the 4th floor of the Contemporary, on the side closest to the MK, just past the souvenir shop. We watched Wishes from there last Oct. and had a great view!
