DH and I may take the 50th tour that includes the special seating at the train station. I know in WDW the overhang blocks the view of some of the higher fireworks. So how is the view in DL?

We are planning to take the same tour, and I was curious too about the view! :)

The first time we viewed the 50th fireworks we were near the train station, but not elevated like I suppose you would be. We had happened to be walking out of the park and just stopped to catch a glimpse of the show. Viewing was okay, but not fantastic (but again, you'll be elevated so you'll probably have a better view).

The next night, we viewed the show directly in front of the castle. I *strongly* recommend doing this at least once. The castle lights up in sync with the music, Tinkerbell flies above the castle, flames shoot up at the castle, and more -- all stuff you'd miss if you viewed the show at the train station.

I had the opportunity to watch the fireworks from that spot, last summer. I stood behind the chairs reserved for the tour people. I enjoyed the show from that spot. You're not in the middle of the action, but you can enjoy the show without having to stand for a long time, and without people crowding in front of you.

These are some pics I took. Click on them for a bigger view:

This is the area where you will sit. The CM on the left was really nice and because of her I got to experience a magical moment.

This is the view as dusk is settling -- gives you a good idea of the view you'll have.

Same area at night

A couple of pics of the show.

Thanks for the pics! The view looks fine!

You'll see the higher ones just fine- what you'll miss it the lower stuff. The projections are a big part of the show. As the others have said, be sure to watch them from closer to the castle at least once, if at all possible.

Some friends of mine did the 50th tour last year, and managed to sweet talk some cast members into letting us join them in the preferred seating for the fireworks show. I liked the view from here a lot since it gave you a good perspective of all of the fireworks. The castle projections were not visible for my old eyes though. If you are able to watch the show more than once, then I strongly recommend this spot for one of your viewing, as well as one which will allow you to see the projections better, (either waiting it out in the hub area, or watching it from the Small World area without a long wait). Note, from Small World, you won't be able to get the full effects of the fireworks, but you should be able to see all the projections well. Good spots in the hub area are ideal, but are hard to come by.

I've watched them from there twice, standing behind the reserved chairs. The view is good, but you can't see any of the projections (maybe the ones they have on the Matterhorn are visible). It's a nice spot, but I do recommend seeing the fireworks from as many different vantage points as possible. I love the hub, love the IASW area and ROA has it's own special effects, which are cool in their own right

I've seen the fireworks from all the different spots and each has its own charm. The hub, hands down puts you right in the mix...projections, firework spinners on the castle, cannon shots from the matterhorn, green haunted mansion room effects, and the laser effects for the space mountain sequence...

Rivers of America has a nice view of the fireworks, accessible view of the matterhorn for the pirate cannon shots, use of lasers from tom sawyers island, but no projections like those on the castle. Personally, I think the best sequence has to be Frontierland, when fireworks go off behind Big Thunder Mountain and the train noise effects go off. This area is relatively crowded due to it being wedged in between the two Fantasmic showings and people coming and going...

IASW has a good view of the main fireworks. You do get projections on the IASW facade, which is pretty neat, but no good surrounding effects such as the haunted mansion fireworks, the cannon fire from the matterhorn, or even the laser effects for space mountain. The beauty of this location is ample sitting/standing space and very little crowding.

The elevated train station has a great view of the main fireworks. You really get the full bloom effect of the fireworks from this position. Unfortunately, extra effects are really tough to see from here. Projections, matterhorn cannon fire, haunted mansion, space mountain lasers, etc. I personally like this place best for low crowds.

Sorry for the thesis, just got into a typing spree heh.

Janomi, thank you! This is very helpful. I'm still not sure if we'll be able to see the fireworks, but knowing there are other spots away from the crowds to see it (even if it's not the full effect) is good to know. :)

Are there fireworks every night (last week of Aug)? My plan is to do the 50th tour on arrival day (a Sat) and enjoy the fireworks from the train station that night. I remember reading that Fantasmic! and the fireworks are not always shown every evening - no official hours are out yet for Aug - anyone know from past experience about the week before Labor Day weekend? Hoping to watch the fireworks as many evenings as they are shown during our 5 day stay. :smooth:

Fireworks and Fantasmic both should be running every evening up through Labor Day once the summer season hits.
