I have two rooms booked for our upcoming vacation at Jambo house. These are for our extended family. One is a value which I understand only holds 4 people and no sleeper chair. But where does this look out? I was surprised this is costing more points than a 1 bedroom standard view at Jambo. I know where the standard view will look out.

Thx!

Values could overlook the savanna or the parking lot, but most of the view will be obstructed by the roof. It should not, however, cost more points than a standard view.

The value costs 171 points for my dates and the standard view only costs 135 points. So I was hoping the values had a better view. But it sounds like it could be or could not and even if it does will have a chance of obstruction...

There is something wrong there as values are less points than standard views. What room size are you comparing in the value?

They are both one bedrooms.

I thought value should be less too. But the online reservation says 135 points next to the standard view room for the same dates and one bedroom.

Just did it manually and standard view should be 201 points for my time frame!

Are you positive you have all the dates reserved in the standard view that you should have?

It isn't should be a value is definitely less points. Something is going wrong if the 1 bedroom is coming up Less points. Maybe some nights unavailable or missing from the reservation but check because a value is definitely less points.

Either some days aren't available and that's a partial point cost, or there's a special we don't know about. What are your dates?

The dates are Nov. 24th - Dec. 1st 2014.

These reservations were made months ago online. Both are the same dates, Jambo house, one bedroom. Only difference is one is a value and one is standard view. Didn't think much about it at the time was just happy to have gotten to switch at 7 months. But have been doing more planning recently and it just didn't seem right for a smaller unit to cost more points, so I thought maybe you get a better view with the value which is why I asked the question. Then when I manually did the calculation myself and saw in fact the standard view should cost me more points than the 135 listed on the reservation. So now I'm skeptical - did I get a sale?! (or more like a glitch) or did the computer not really save all my days even though it is listed as one whole week - Nov. 24th through Dec. 1st 2014.

OP, there is something wrong with your reservations. There is now way you are staying for a week in a 1 bedroom for 135 points standard view. I also can't believe that you got a value room for Thanksgiving week at 7 months. Are you sure you have the right room size and dates?

I typed they were made "MONTHS" ago (plural). 7 month switch.

And I agree something is funny about the reservations now that I know the correct points. Wish I could post a pix of the online reservations. Believe me, I keep reading them over and over to find a discrepancy. But they both are listed - Nov. 24, 2014 - Dec. 1st 2014 for Jambo House. The only difference one says value at 171 points. The other says Standard at 135.

Yes, a value was open at 7 months! :)

the Value rooms can also have a pool view. See this map - http://www.parkinfo2go.com/dvc-akv/floor5.php The values are located on the Ostrich and Giraffe trails up front. So some overlook the Uzima pool, a few overlook the savanna, others overlook the parking lot or the porte cochere.

Did you receive an email for the reservations? What does it show? When looking at the reservation online does it show any of the days grayed out for the standard view room?

I would call MS and confirm your dates for both reservations and the point cost as it is not worth the worry.

You can sign on to your account on the DVC member website and check your upcoming vacations. Click on the tab "My Vacations" that appears across the top of the screen. Then choose "Upcoming Vacations." The system will display all of your upcoming vacations, including the check-in and check-out dates, resort and accommodation type and total number of points used.

I'm with wdrl, verify that the reservation is correct and I would consider the point issue Disney Magic.

Something to think about, Disney IT does make mistakes. We learned years ago to keep track of our reservations and point usage with Caskbill's point tracker software. This was after DVC "lost" some of our points.

That is what I am doing and that is where it says the dates and 135 points.

I'll be calling MS later on to see if they have it in the system.

Please post back when you finally get it figured out. I'm really curious as to what is going on. Good Luck!
