We are really into Virtual and Augmented reality and I just bought a 360 camera to tape some attractions at WDW on our next trip so we can replay them with Google cardboard at home. (I know...nerd)

Does Disney have any rules or restrictions regarding video on the rides?

The camera attaches to all the GoPro mounts so I'm not worried about losing or dropping it. Also the steadier the better, so i was planning on clipping it to some ride vehicles (and then holding it of course) just to get a steadier picture.

Would Dis frown on this?

I think, as long as you can attach it to your body like a go pro, it's no problem. We used it a lot last year. Only problem were the slides in the water parks, there you have to hold it in your hands. Other thing is, it works best if you have a tall upper body. For short people you might be filming the handle/bar/seat in front of you.

You cannot attach it to the ride vehicle.

Also, don't use it on dark rides if it has a screen or visible light of any kind. Even if you think no one will notice it - trust me they will.

A few rides and attractions do specifically forbid video and/or photography, so listen to the warnings at the beginning.

I put my go pro on the handle bar of Seven Dwarfs and Big Thunder and nobody said anything. It was not a clip though but rather the strap. I wouldn't have done it if I was told it was wrong or if I read that. Again it was not the clip type but the strap type so no damage to the ride vehicle and no chance of it coming off.

I know you can not having it off the top of your head.

No video lighting is allowed on dark rides. Also, I believe that for certian rides there are restrictions on filming because of copyright. I believe this applies to film presentations and things like Star Tours and maybe Rock'n'Rollercoaster (because of the music). Certainly people have gotten away with it though, but you might be asked not to.

I did a lot of GoPro taping last year and the year prior. In general, no attaching to vehicles ... though i was able to clip to Kalo River Rapids and they said it was fine - got some of yhe best footage of the trip watching everyone get drenched. Just make sure your cam is waterproof.

I also used head mounts on every single coaster (often reversing the cam to the back of my head to film the kids). Was never told not to do that - dont know if theyve changed policy since then.

Overall, the best footage I got all trip was not on the rides. For the most part, only outdoor rides film well, as low light is death to small lens hobby cameras. I got great shots clipping to a table at Dawa Bar, or clipping to the strollet as i rolled through the parks. I would think your 360 cam will do great for that too. Share some of your footage please, as Im debating get a 360 cam to bring to food and wine in the fall, so i can watch on my Gear VR.

Now you just have to get an HD surround recorder to go with it !

As long as you don't use a selfie stick and don't hold it so that it extends outside the ride vehicle (out to the side) you should be OK on most rides. However, the CMs are inconsistent. I have had CMs tell me to put away my Sony ActionCam (similar to a GoPro) on Rock 'n' Rollercoaster, Primeval Whirl, and ....Living with the Land, yes you heard me right. I've ridden all 3 other times without being told to put it up. Just realize that it will depend on the CM.

I just got the 360Fly and really digging it so far. Did a test vid in my car on the way to work this AM and came out cool. Yes, it is waterproof and fits all the GoPro attachments and mounts.

I get and respect the "No Mounting to rides thing" where instructed, however i'm thinking of picking this up b/c in the chance that a CM lets me, it is a quick on/off and non marking type mount. Its like a mount on a removable zip tie.

And yes, I plan on filming that "walk down main street" for sure

We've never mounted to rides, but my husband used a wrist mount for our Go Pro on every single ride that we went on last trip in December (minus the first day because he packed it in his checked bag by mistake!) and had no issues. No one said anything to us. And the characters thought it was awesome.
