Videoing 3D rides - using a filter?

Anyone had any success in videoing the 3D rides with a proper linear polarising filter attached to their camcorder? I've tried using on eof the lenses from the 3D glasses you are given (on Toy Story Midway Mania) and it wasn't particularly good. I'm wondering if it's worth buying a linear polarising filter? Anyone tried this?

The glasses work with 2 different filters. One for each eye to separate out the images. You should be able to use one filter and capture one of the projected images. A lot of 3D is done with circular polarization now so you might want to investigate what is actually used on each ride.

Also keep in mind that the video on the rides is copyrighted. I noticed this last trip that some rides that were previously just no flash photography now say no photography or video.

Thanks Danielle, I think they all use crossed linear polarisers. I'm not sure how circular polarisers would work as they couldn't guarantee to get the alignment right.

Actually linear polarization has problems when the viewing angle gets off, and for those of us who have vision alignment problems it can be difficult to view. Circular polarization doesn't have those issues to the same extent. The newer technology, like RealD, uses circular polarization. Circular polarization uses rotation, while linear polarization uses specific angles.

I'm not sure what they use on the rides. If I had to guess I'd say that Star Tours uses circular polarization simply because I have issues viewing linear polarization and I have no issues on that ride. But that isn't scientific by any means. LOL
