I was wondering if people had any insight on videography. The DF and I have decided that we only want our ceremony on video. I've been talking with a variety of videography vendors and each seem to offer slightly different packages at slightly different prices.

I was wondering:

1) who people have booked/used for their videography?
2) is there a big difference between a high def and stand def?
3) is there a big difference between 1 camera and 2 cameras?

We're getting married at the Wedding Pavilion, which has mounted cameras (from what I understand). However, I think you have to use Disney Videography if you want those and the basic package is like $1200. I've found off-site vendors from $450 - $925.

Any insight/advice/comments people have would be greatly appreciated!!!

I'd like to know which vendors you found because the only ones I've found ranged from $1500-$4000! And that is waaaayyyy out of our budget.

I'll send you a private email with the information I have gathered. :)

I had Stan from STVS. We only had our ceremony video taped because of disney's rules and their outrageous prices. It was very reasonably priced and we got two cameras for it. I haven't seen the final results yet because it's only been two weeks since the wedding but stan and his wife bonnie were great to work with and very responsive any time i needed to get ahold of them.

We are using STVS. For three hours it was around ~$600. I can't comment on the finished product because our wedding hasn't happened yet, but he's been great to work with so far.

2) is there a big difference between a high def and stand def?

Yes. It's like the difference between looking at a VHS cassette and looking at a DVD. If you have a big TV and view your wedding video on it, the image will be much sharper in high-def. (Then again, so will any flaws! :rotfl:) I really wish we'd had this option when we got married!

3) is there a big difference between 1 camera and 2 cameras?

With one camera, you just get whatever footage one person could capture by walking around the WP during the ceremony. With 2 cameras, it usually means that they set up a second camera on a tripod to get an overview shot of the wedding (unless they are quoting you for two camera operators, in which case both people might be roving). This gives them more angles to choose from when editing your video, which can make it more interesting to watch.

Right—they aren't gonna let an outside vendor tap the feed from those mounted cameras.

We used STVS and had the ceremony and reception taped and got the video on high def blue Ray disk. This was the most important thing to my DH!:rotfl: I am so glad we splurged for the video for the entire time and got high def. I have both high def and regular copies and you can tell the difference. Stan did an amazing job with our video. You didn't even know he was there and he captured every moment!

We are going to use Disney for our videography, however, DF is a video editor and we asked Disney if we could have the $5000 package and DF will edit the film since that is what really costs the most when having a videographer. When we asked Disney if they filmed in HD at the wedding pavilion, they said not at this time. They are pricing us at $1500.
