I was just wondering if anyone would be able to give me advice on having a videographer. I was just quoted ceremony only $450. For one hour. Does that seem crazy? Its something that I could do without but I also think it would be a good keepsake. If you guys have an opinions about this I would certainly appriciate them!!!

That's pretty much what I was quoted for just the ceremony- it doesn't seem crazy. It is A LOT of money but it seems to be pretty standard.

But is it worth it though? Is it something that is going to go into the DVD rack never to be seen again? haha I guess its all personal preference.

I found a couple of videographers that will do the whole thing for around $600. If you want their info I can pm you. The $450 just for the ceremony is a lot but it does seem pretty standard for a lot of videographers, unless you know where to look. :thumbsup2

The average price I found was $400 - $550 for one hour, two High Set cameras, and 3 fully edited DvDs/Blu-rays.

Just my opinion and something to think about....my DF and I have both been married before, we both had videography at our first weddings and neither of us ever watched the videos - ever!! We decided to spend the money this time on photos because we have so many hanging up around the house and create albums and websites with our pics.

I know all the bridal lists say you will regret cutting video but I just wanted to give you the opinion from a couple people who spent a lot of $$ on it and never watched it.

I second this!!

All my friends got married a few years before we did and we hang out every weekend and have yet to see any wedding videos. So we opted not to have a video. I have pictures and memories... I don't need a video.

Thanks guys! This is what I was thinking too but I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't be something I regretted later. I went to my wise old dad yesterday who said the same thing, he has never even looked at his wedding pictures never mind the vids, maybe if it was something that we could throw in at a small cost but not for how much it is. Appriciate it ladies!

we want a webcast and this STVS guy does it as an add on. he is pretty hard sell/high pressure sales guy so we are doing like a smaller version of their basic package and all i plan to do with it is send it to a couple of relatives. i would like to not do it at all, but the webcast aspect is important to us and i really don't want to stress over DIYing a ustream webcast ourselves.....

I know that for me, having videography is important and that I definitely will regret it if I do not have it. I asked my mom about this and she had videography done for her second wedding and even though she does not watch it, she does not regret having it. I remember that as a child I used to watch that video, more than once, and I know I saw on another thread (or maybe another board) that while the couple does not watch their video, their kids watch it a lot. I think that having it is important because there will be a lot of things that I will miss while the event is going on that can be captured through video, like the processional before the bride enters. If you're the bride, you won't see that part, except maybe from behind. I think that for people who have smaller weddings and a smaller guest list, only having photography may be fine, but I'm having 100 people and know that there may be a lot of things photography can't capture.
