Hello Everyone! :flower3:

I'm on the fence about videography for the Dessert Party. We decided to go with DPS for the Dessert Party. I just want to make sure we capture every moment as possible through photo and video.

The A la Carte list says:

Dessert Party
• Coverage of you and your guests enjoying the fireworks and
can include guest testimonials
• One (1) manned camera coverage
• Edited montage with your choice of music
• Average two (2) minutes in length
• The final montage is added as a Special Feature to your final DVD
$650

I'm not sure if we even qualify for this due to the fact we went with STVS for video.

I'm on the fence and just want to weigh my options. What is your opinion...positive or negative? Thanks!

To me, fireworks never look or sound very impressive on video, and I really don't like the look of night-time videos where everything is either blitzed out by the light on the camera or impossible to see cuz it's too far from the camera. So we passed on the video.

I know for a lot of people, just having everything on video is all that matters. But for this package, it looks like you are paying $650 for two minutes of footage in a montage - you're not even seeing the whole show or hearing anything but music played over it and snippets of guest testimonials, and it's a separate thing that would not be part of your wedding video even if you had gone with Disney for that.

For us it was as we had a very good friend of the family get sick the day of the wedding so she was only at the Welcome Party (that was our dessert party vs day of the wedding) and we have the video of her there interacting with everyone, HOWEVER, we were under the old video rules and were able to negotiate it as part of our package with an outside vendor.

My BIL did take video as did my FIL and they are both pretty good as well.

A suggestion - ask STVS if they can wait until you have your pictures to do your final video edit. You can add pictures of your DP in your video. Just ask them to do a 2 min video montage at the end of your edit. This is super easy to do and they should not charge you too much to do this.
