Any recommendations? The cheaper the better, but of course I don't want it to be junk. Thanks!!:thumbsup2

After researching cameras last year, I decided on the Flip Ultra HD with 2 hour memory for my 12 yo. The quality is pretty good (for a palm size video camera), it's got enough memory and battery life for anything she wants to do and the software that comes with it is easy to use for editting. She's been really happy with it. The only con I saw when researching is that it's not the greatest in low light but she's had no trouble using it indoors. IMO it's been a great purchase. She even used it for a school project to make a movie of the story of Medussa and it came out really well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this camera for a 10yo.

I also agree with the Flip recommendation. We got it for our DS10 last year.

There will be a Kodak Playsport Camcorder Video Camera at Staples starting tomorrow thru Monday for $74.99 after rebate and after a coupon that will come in their flyer tomorrow (or you may can get the coupon from Staples.com-its a "$10 off $75 or more"). It seems to get pretty good reviews and seems similar to the Flip.

Flip - DD11 loves hers and as had it for a few years. It is very easy to download movies to the computer and is very user-friendly.

The playsport is waterproof and has comparable reviews..I just bought one on amazon and I'm going to cancel it now and wait to get it at staples!

Another vote for Flip. I got one as a freebie at work, and DD7 has taken it over completely.

Coby makes a nice video camera. The picture is really good on it and you can usually get it on sale for 29.99 at an electronics store. We have one and we were really surprised with the quality.

After looking at the Staples ad I realize it is $139.99 with a $50 gift card. I don't buy enough at Staples to want a $50 gift card. I think I'm going to go back and buy it at Amazon for $114...

Now that price sounds nice-I'll have to check that out too. If I can't find it Imay PM you for more info :thanks:

My son loves his Flip...keep an eye on 6pm.com, I got it there for around $40 last year before Christmas

We bought the Kodak zi6 pocket video camera for our son's 10th birthday last year. It has been an extreme hit. In fact, the was just using it yesterday to make a "movie". He has never lost interest in it like past birthday presents and it is also very useful to have around for mom and dad to use occasionally. There are updated models out there now. I just bought the Flip brand pocket camera for a friend who is having a baby because I got good recommendations from my sister-in-law who has one. I think the "flip" type cameras are the best for kids because of the ease of use. Good luck!

just got a kodak playsport last week from Amazon for 114- we love this camera so far,and it's waterproof,,plus it uses sd cards for more memory/shooting time...... I wouldn't use a $50 card at staples either...so I'm happy with the price I paid..plus I got a sdhc card for about 15.00 at amazon that gives us 2 1/2 hours of video time at great quality.....

Definitely te Flip. DD11 has one and has used it to make
videos at home and take video at WDW and DLR. Very reasonably priced. She has the Ultra HD.
