This will be our first trip using my new Video camera (Yay!) and I was wondering if there is a list anywhere of what attractions you can and can't tape. Thanks!

It probably wouldn't be wise to tape on Rockin' Roller Coaster ;)

You can video tape on any of the attractions that you feel comfortable taping on (The roller coasters are not a good idea)... The only thing they ask is if you are on a dark ride (Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.) do not use the video light as it will ruin the ride for those around you.

if you can hang onto it - feel free to tape during any ride!

but, as LIbertyBelle said - keep your external light off during dark rides. :)

I don't think that's entirely true. There are a number of attractions where taping is prohibited--Star Tours and Alien Encounter (I assume the same now applies to Stitch) come to mind. We actually had our AE show interrupted once because a Guest refused to heed the warnings of the CM.

Listen to the announcements as you board, and ask a CM if you are uncertain. Many attractions will simply prohibit cameras with exterior lighting, which means you can still tape as long as your spotlight isn't shining. On these rides, also be careful that you don't have the LCD display (mini video screen) on your camera turned on. I've heard of people getting "busted" by the CMs just for emitting the light produced by the LCD monitor.

Thanks, I remember hearing that they don't allow taping on CoP, which is one I really want to get! Luckily we'll be there 8 days so I can figure out which mode works best for the fireworks!

The last time we went DS asked the CM at Star Tours if he could tape the ride and she said that as long as he didn't use his light on the camcorder it would be OK. Sometimes you just need to ask the CM for permission and make sure you don't use your light. :cat:

Can I tell you how irritating it is to have someone taking flash pictures in someplace like Pirates or HM? I actually have some good shots from Pooh and Splash using a flash, but I was in the vehicle myself and made sure there was no one on the ride ahead or behind me.

I'm sure this could merit it's own thread, but I just had to say it.
