I just saw one of these Video Now advertised somewhere and was wondering if anyone had one in their house. If your kids have one I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions. Is this something an 8 yo boy would like or is it something he would use a couple of times and then let it sit to collect dust?

My 7 yo boy got one for Christmas. He likes it, but hasn't used it all that much.

The problem is that we haven't found any more discs to buy for it. Last summer, there were lots of Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents and Rocket Power discs in Toys R Us. Since we got the player, all we're finding is Fear Factor and Lizzie McGuire.

I think it'd be great to take traveling--like for a long car or plane ride. Haven't done that since Christmas, though.

Hmmm...that reminds me, though. We're having dinner out tonight, so I should bring it to keep him occupied in the restaurant.

Our guys loved it in the beginning but then after they watched all their discs several times, it got put on the shelf. I have to buy some new discs or find someone to trade with. Hoping to see if I can find any at yard sales.

But I think it'll be good for traveling. One of those every now and then toys.

we got our DD one for christmas last year and she is 7. She doesn't watch it at home, but she always grabs it when we are going to be riding in the car. Its perfect for car trips because her DB will play with his game boy (she has one but doesn't use it) and she will use the video now.

I got it for my DS. He used it for about 2 months and even with new discs he does not use it now. Thinking of selling the whole thing on Ebay

My DD wanted one this past Christmas, but I didn't like that it was black and white. I figured at some point it will be in color and then I would buy one. One of her friends got one and hardly looks at it anymore.

We have one, but I can never find the discs anywhere. To me it was just a waste of money.

My 8 y/o DS wanted one soooooo bad that he saved his allowance & bought his own. It was $50 just for the video now & then you need the $10 light too or you can not see the picture when it's dark. Then if you want the case, it's another $10 (altho around Christmas time, I saw the Video Now with all the attachments AND 3 discs included for $50!) Anyway, my son loved it for the first couple months but now I haven't seen him touch it anymore. When we take long road trips, we take the TV/VCR or the DVD players, so it's not like the Video Now is the only thing he can watch. I bought him several discs but he's just bored with it now.

I wish I could have talked him into waiting but that wasn't possible. He was counting down the weeks till he had enough allowance money to buy it!

Being that you're in Italy, I would imagine it's a real novelty item there, so it probably will keep your little man's interest longer than it does to any kid here....but I guess it just depends on the individual too!

DD is 6yo and has one. She got it for her b-day. She uses it often. She has a light for it too so she can watch alittle before going to bed. She sometimes takes it with us in my truck(the tv's are in the other car)
We were lucky to find lots of discs at Walmart and Toys r us. She loves watching fear factor! She has the Nick cartoons as well. I thought it was a good investment! She doesn't have to use it everyday but, she goes back to it often enough.

OK, this is totally just my opinion, but they are not worth it. I work at Toys "R" Us and we never have any disks in. Plus they are black and white, hard to see and the picture is not all that great. If your son has a Game Boy Advance, they are going to be coming out with some video type things in the near future. At first it will just be two with each having two Pokemon episodes, but there are plans for future ones. These will be in color, but I have no idea what they will cost.

We have two. Ds#3 (age 7 1/2) saved his birthday money and bought his. Ds#4 (age 5) got his for Christmas. We find the discs at Target and they will share between the two of them. They like theirs alot, but only one has the light! Have to go buy that for him and now they want the pouch that it comes in! I think they were a little too expensive, but they have enjoyed them. When we are in the car they have to use headphones with them!::yes::

 Word of advice~ Don't buy the Video Now headphones b/c they don't fit their heads and they are NOT adjustable!!

DS dug his out again recently and was using it. I agree that there are not enough discs for it.
