Hello everyone,
I was hoping to get a little advice for our ADR at V&A. This will be our first time eating there and we are not much for date nights without the kids. We have a 23, 22, and a 9 year old. So dates alone don't happen to often. We have a standard reservation and I was just wondering what we should expect. Will be dropping our DD off at the Polynesian child care and heading to Grand Floridian from there. So we will need to wrap up any plans by the stroke of midnight.
If you remember the two vultures in Jungle book sitting in the tree, that's a typical date night. :(

Typically, a meal at V&A takes about 3 hours. So if your ADR is before 8, you should have plenty of time. If you drink alcohol, I highly recommend doing the wine pairings. Elevates the meal to another level!

Yes we are planning on doing the wine pairing, we have an earlier reservation at 6:00 I believe. I can't imagine a meal taking three hours. It will definitely be an experience. any thoughts on the 7 or 10 course?

I've done the Chef's Table twice now and it's the longer 10 course menu. I've arrived at 5:30 and leave about 9:30. I would always suggest the longer menu just for more treats along the way.

There is also a choice between two wine pairings. I know for the 10 course they have a $100 and a $150 pairing, with the more expensive pairing having higher quality wines (though both are definitely good quality). I went with the $150 and loved every single drink they brought out to me, which I believe was 8 6oz pours. Even varietals that I normally don't like ended up pairing wonderfully.

You'll be offered a few upgrades, namely a cut of Japanese Wagyu beef, shaved white truffles, and caviar. I think there may be a few others as well. The Wagyu is a great tasting if you've never had it before, and I love getting the truffles to put on the various breads that are brought out.

If you're worried about pacing, your servers will go faster or slower as you need, just ask. Trust me, you'l be happy for the 10 minute break between courses when you'e halfway through. The portions are pretty small (maybe 5-6 bites) but I'm always stuffed by the end. Be sure to get chocolates to go! If you're celebrating something, they should also give you a tiny loaf of bread to bring with you - it's awesome.

We loved this elegant experience we went for the 7 courses and that was was A LOT of food by the end. Also they bring out extras..There was also a candy course, An "amusement" before hand, etc. so not really 7. Also I have read you can split one wine pairing between two people..the regular wine pairing is A LOT of wine otherwise. They just do smaller pours when splitting. It was a perfect evening!
