We are celebrating our anniversary at Victoria and Alberts during our February trip and was wondering if anyone had an opinion and could give us some info on the wine pairings option. It is $60 per person. How does it work? What does it include? Would purchasing a bottle of wine that we know we like and enjoy be a better option? It sounds like a fun thing to do but if anyone has done this and can help that would be great. Thanks much! :woohoo:

We shared the wine pairing - I thought it was too much wine. Each course is paired with a specific wine - 7 courses = 7 glasses (in our case, 1/2 glass for ea. course). While I was glad we tried it for our first time, I would not do it again. We were introduced to a fabulous Riesling which we never would have known about had we not done the pairing. If you enjoy wine, I would try it - again, you may want to share. Next time we go, I plan on ordering only that Riesling.

Their wine pairings are very skillful and they definitely enhance the overall experience. For me, having the wrong wine could diminish the taste of a dish; conversely, certain ingredients in food can make a particular wine taste strange. Plus, it's a great opportunity to try a wide variety of wines.

It would be hard to select one wine that would work throughout the meal, although a good quality, complex Champagne goes with just about everything

FWIW, I've never thought that the pairing is too much wine, but I'm 6'2"/210, so it might be too much for some people. Of course, you don't have to drink it all! Another option if you don't want to drink as much is to just have them bring a few appropriate by-the-glass selections.

I think the wine pairings are the only way to go. I cannot drink that much wine so I either don't finish each glass or I share the glasses with my husband on the early courses and then just get two glasses of my own (same type of wine) with the fish and meat courses.

We've eaten at V&A many times and the one time I did not participate in the wine pairing, I felt it made the experience less enjoyable as the wine definitely enhances the flavors in each course.

Congratulations!!:lovestruc
V&As is fabulous and you will enjoy the wine parings. We have. In fact we try to get them at every WDW restaurant.;) Having a different wine with the courses served is so much fun. And they are not huge glasses.
We are used to having wine with our meals so never thought it was that much wine. And you can pace yourself over the 2 hour dining.
:rolleyes1 Enjoy it!!!!!!:)

DD & I shared a wine pairing the night before her WDW wedding. We're both only about 5" tall & have little tolerance for alcohol. We though the bride & mother-of-the-bride showing up at the wedding was a bad idea.
