I have made a reservation at V&A for my son and his girlfriend as a college graduation surprise. Now I'm wondering if it's appropriate for them. They are not terribly sophisticated as far as food goes, especially my son's girlfriend. For those of you who have dined there, do you think they will enjoy it or will it be wasted on them?
Thanks.

Go to Deb Will's website www.wdwig.com

Deb's website contains menus from all the different restaurants on property.

We met a young couple on their homeymoon, the time we went, on the monorail. They had been given a meal there as a wedding present. They seemed to be a lot like what you describe your son and gilrfriend. We saw them after dinner was over and asked how they liked it. They said the loved being waited on and the atmoshpere but they didn't really like the food. They said they are steak and potatoes kind of people and some of the dishes were too rich.
Now if your son and his GF are willing to try new things but just haven't had the experience then I think they will love it. But if they are pizza/steak & potatoes people I'm not sure they will enjoy it so much.

I agree with Sonya....if your son/girlfriend are open to trying new things and just haven't had the chance to experience such things...it would be great.

If they are not open to new things...I wouldn't waste the money...send them over to Artist Point or Flying Fish where they can get some great, basic type meals.

Knowing my 20something children...they are up for all new experiences, food and otherwise and the love them...they give everything a chance at least once.

Only you can judge if your son will like the experience. It is very special...the food is delicious and they will be treated like royalty.

Thank you for your replys. After reading the menus, I have to agree with you. I know the experience would be a great one, and I know my son is open to new things, but I'm not sure about his girlfriend. I will have to rethink this. Maybe my DH and I should go instead.........
Thanks again.

Great idea, send yourself to Vic & Als and your kids to another restaurant!;) I think I'd have to agree with that!

I was a picky eater too. I love places like Applebee's. But I went to V&A with an open mind the first time - I promised my DBF that I would try at least a little bite of everything. Now I wish I knew where I could find things like squid ink pasta (absolutely delicious), buffalo (no not the wings, but the meat - better than any steak I have ever had), and pheasant (very yummy). We have been to V&A three times and the only thing I didn't like was the pears poached in port wine. We have made a pact to go once every trip.

I would recommend that you send your son and his girl friend some where else and enjoy one of the best meals you will ever have! If you like wine, I would recommend the wine pairing as well.

Oh and make sure you are hungry. The portions may look small but that is very deceiving!

I would agree with other replies. If you son and his girlfriend enjoy having new experiences then this will be a great night for them.
