are children allowed to eate in the Restaurant? if so do they have a childrens menu?

As far as I know there is no childrens menu and to be honest I don't think the restaurant is really suitable for children, maybe an older child if they like various foods would be ok. Also due to the length of the meal, upto 3 hours I believe then I think most children would become very bored.

Claire ;)

Hi i think that i agree that it is not the best option. Could anyone recomend a fine dining option that is suitable for young children. How about the California Grill at the Contemporary Resort?

There are no children's menus , in fact there is very little choice and the food is very rich. Have a look at Deb Wills website as I think she has a sample menu. They do have strict rules about dress, which also applies to children. We've been several times and have only once seen a child. He was about 12, wearing a suit and tie and had impecable manners. To be honest he looked bored but was far too polite to say so.

The music is soft. There is no themeing to speak of, except the turn of the century dress of the waiters.

IMHO it's not a place for children as they would be very very bored.

I have seen children at California Grill and Citrico's before :)

There are kids menu's at Jiko's, Flying Fish, California Grill, Citrico's, Narcoossee's, Artist Point and Yachtsmans Steakhouse.

You can find them Here on the DIS

Hi thanks that is really useful. I like the look of the Yachtsmans Steakhouse,

If you want fine dining and with children then maybe California Grill, Citrico's and at MGM Hollywood Brown Derby is also very good. Jiko may be a little too different dependant on the ages of the chldren, but Artist Pointe is also suitable.

V and A is the only restaurant in WDW where they discourage children. it is a v long meal and the menu would be completely unsuitable for a four year old - trust me i have eaten there. Also, the dinner does take a long time. And I don't mean to sound cruel, but if i went there and they had children that young in the restaurant, I would leave and eat somewhere else, and i doubt whether i would be the only one.

Some of the other choices would be fine. But, did you know, you would be able to use the neverland dinner club at the polynesian, go for dinner and collect your little one later. It is a great club - my kids love it. U don't have to be staying at the poly to use the club - but it would be best to reserve in advance.

Thanks everyone! This board is so useful. I think that it is restaurant that is to be enjoyed without children so maybe i could make use of the neverland dinner club as mentioned, have to find out more about it.

I have some other great sounding restaurants now to choice from, and character meals to choice as well,.

It so hard to choice, how does every one do it?

We go every year to V & A's but we get a baby sitter in for the night. Its also nice to go to a meal without children arpund ypu and being able to have a drink or two. If you want an approved babysitting company just ask.

It says in the hotel description for POR that there is a baby sitting service. How does this work?

I forgot about the in-room service - it is great and may be better for a child that young, so they can get a decent nights sleep. We used Fairy Godmothers - if you search Fairy Godmothers and phone number on these boards, you should be able to find the number.

We used the service on a few trips when the kids were younger - they sent the same sitter each time - a grandma - and our kids loved her. She brought with her a suitcase full of toys and books suitable for their age groups.

For the Neverland Club - i think i reserved it thru Walt Disney World Dining, when i made other meal reservations.

You are right it is difficult to choose where to eat. I still struggle after several trips. Generally, I try to fit meals around whichever park we will be in - we try to do one sit down meal a day. At least one of these will be a character meal, and one adults only meal.

IMHO the best character meal which we always do is at Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary - it is so fun and lively. My kids also love the Japanese restaurant in Epcot and always talk about the place. Another must do for us now, is Le Cellier in the Canada Pavillion in Epcot - it is very nice, especially if you like steak. For a nice meal, which is a bit more relaxed as opposed to fancy and therefore nice for kids too is Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge - it is great, plus it gives you an opportunity to look around the lodge, which is fantastic.

If you want a hand planning, or you're struggling to decide between certain restaurants, just ask. I love helping first timers plan.

chef mickey's is one of my firm choices so far along with rain forest cafe at animal kingdom, my daughter loved the one at DLRP.

Narcoosees and Citricos are both great with children. Our three love Citrico's - we had a really great CM last trip, who spent so much time talking with them and recommending new rides to try.

We have been to Victoria & Alberts when we were staying at Grand Floridian and put our DD into the kids club and she loved it. She was 10 but still thought it was good. When we were in the restaurant there was a family with two children (I would guess aged about 5 and 7). They were well behaved but I thought that their parents would be paying an awful lot for that meal as there are no children's menu.

This year we are going to WDW with friends and have asked our friends to look after our DD as she will be 13 and too old for the kids club which means that DH and me can have a night to ourself and DD will be happy as our friends have their children too.

The Concourse Steakhouse in the Contempory is nice too - and no problem with children.,
