I'd like to eat at Victoria & Albert's some day, but I'm just not a wine person. I'd feel weird ordering Diet Coke at one of the fanciest restaurants in the southeastern U.S.

Do they even have soft drinks at V&A?

Of course! Along with just plain H20 if that's what you want. Or beer or any cocktail or mixed drink.

They stock their own extensive wine selection, but get drinks, soda, beer etc from the bar at next door's Citricos.

My son is 16 and cannot drink, but my wife who can almost never gets wine at V&A as she says she wants to taste every bite. If a coffee drinker, get coffee the display is AMAZING!

Drink what you want. Ask them if Coke, Dr Pepper or Sprite (or simply water) would be better.

The food is amazing and they are super accommodating!

Dr Pepper?? They have Dr.Pepper!!!!????

There are many people who cannot or will not drink alcohol. Soft drinks are an option, as is ice tea or just water ( still or sparkling). It's your meal - order whatever you want.

I'm not a wine person but I do drink at Disneyworld especially after getting off the resort bus at 10:30 at night. That being said the wife and I have a VA ADR during our next trip and I am going to do wine just for that occasion. I'm hoping it enhances the experience.

There is plenty for people who do not consume wine.

And I'm not sure if you're anti-alcohol, so I'll offer this advice:

**A word of caution for anyone who consumes wine and/or the wine paring with their meal at V&A - because the meal is so lengthy, if you consume wine with each course at near or about the same rate as a 'typical' three-course meal - you may be consuming far more alcohol than you would ordinarily consume!!

V&A has a 'Water Menu'.

I prefer 'sparkling / with gas; other people prefer flat / without gas....then you get into whether the water is from a 'spring' and/or contains beneficial minerals....with or without a salty bite.....

By the way, the changes in courses come with changes in bread....while the butter changes too and is garnished with new tastes from often visible salt granules.

Here's what we do - we have a bottle of Champagne to start. This can likely accompany your amuse-bouche and first selected course (which is likely to be vegetarian or seafood). Save half the bottle of Champagne for dessert. If someone wants an additional glass or half-glass of wine with their meal, order as necessary.

You can certainly start with a cocktail/beer while you look at the menu. Then just stop drinking wine and then have water....or just start and stay with that Water Menu. We've been known to do this too....I may even have an unsweetened ice tea if I want a beverage with tannins (like come in red wine) to help cleanse my palate.

What's most important - focus on what it is that will make YOU feel like you are enjoying the meal as you wish. If a Diet Coke is what makes you happy, enjoy that icy beverage.

But please, don't ask for ketchup or steak sauce - can we agree on that?

Thanks JZCube! No, I'm not anti-alcohol. I'm quite pro-alcohol and plan to get hammered Drinking Around the World. I just don't do wine.

And no, I won't be asking for ketchup or steak sauce at V&A's, rofl.

They may be able to make you non alcoholic cocktails if they have a decent bartender.

If you don't know what you want to drink with dinner, just tell your server that you aren't a wine drinker and ask what they'd suggest for a particular course. They're there to ensure you enjoy your dinner. They may have some suggestions that will pair well that you might enjoy but hadn't thought of.

Ninety percent of the time I drink beer vs. wine or cocktails, but I always do the wine pairing at V&A. My suggestion would be to give it a shot but if you are dead set against it, I agree with the recommendation that you ask your waiter or the sommelier for help with pairing beers or cocktails with your meal. Other than that, I would go with water. Trashing your palate with sugar, high fructose corn syrup or any flavor of artificial sweeteners would seem to me to be a sub-optimal choice.

I do not drink alcohol of any kind at all; its my personal choice and personal beliefs. With that when we dined at V&A in the QVR last year we were not made to feel uncomfortable at all drinking water and diet soda. I explained to them my preference and they still made us feel like royalty.

Good point. If the OP likes beer a good restaurant should be able to find a beer to pair with a course. But that assumes they have a decent selection of beers which I have yet to see at WDW. They generally offer only beers produced or distributed by Inbev/Annheiser-Bush.
