Victoria & Albert's or Remy?

Our July trip includes a 10 night stay at WDW before a 7 night cruise on the Fantasy. We're celebrating my birthday and I was hoping to do a fine dining experience such as V&A or Remy. Initially I booked V&A without hesitation mostly due to them being able and willing to accommodate my allergies. From my understanding they call about a week out to discuss food restrictions. I'm concerned about Remy, being able to accommodate without advance notice. I've got fish, seafood, shellfish, tree nut, peanut and legume allergies. Has anyone with any of these allergies been to V&A or Remy? If they can accommodate, is it still worth the $185 or $95? I'm a bit worried about not doing V&A and then not being able to do Remy on the cruise? Are the experiences at V&A or Remy comparable or is one better than the other? We've been to other signature restaurants on property as well Palo onboard the Magic but never anything as "fancy" as the two restaurants we're contemplating for our upcoming trip.

Unfortunately I can't help with your allergy questions, but hopefully someone else will be able to. As I was reading your post before that, my question was which are you more likely to do again, a WDW trip or a cruise? Whichever one seems more far off in the future, I would make that restaurant my priority assuming they can accommodate (which I imagine that they will be able to).

Victoria and Alberts is just the final step above Remy in my opinion. I haven't had the pleasure of dinning at V&A yet but based on every review I've done and the course selections it does seem just a touch up the scale. Of course when you go that high it is splitting hairs.

Remy does allergies as well. It will just depend on how significant they are but if the chefs have ingredients you can eat they'll try their hardest the make something with little to no cross contamination. Of course the kitchen will have those items in it so they could do everything 100% right and there is always a slight possibilty but that is any kitchen when dealing with allergies to be honest.

The husband who does the Disney Cruise Blog has shellfish allergies. They have eaten at Remy before. Look on their site for reviews, because they specifically discuss what was substituted to accommodate him. Plus, the wife does not eat certain meats.

I have eaten at both. If I had to choose, I would do Remy. It's a great value for the money, and it's the best view on the ship. The food at Remy is a little "riskier" or "foodie" than V&A but not a ton. I don't consider myself a huge foodie. I am particularly weird about fatty meat, undercooked eggs, raw meat (I like raw fish though). I ended up having carpaccio, an undercooked egg, and pork belly at Remy and thought it was the most spectacular meal I have had. I also like that there are 2 distinct menus at Remy, so DH got one, and I got the other and we shared bites. Plus, if you get the wine pairing, it's much easier to stagger, I mean wonder:) back to your room than travel back to your hotel at WDW. We are doing a WDW stay and then a 7 night Fantasy in late July/early August. We decided to just do Remy for two reasons: 1) It's easier and more enjoyable for DS11 to do the kids/tween club on the ship versus the kids club at the hotel and 2) Remy is a better value.

I have seafood allergies - not just shellfish but all seafood. And I've been accommodated at both V&As and Remy's (for both dinner and brunch). They will be able to accommodate. If you can only do one, V&As is hands-down above Remy's but only because Remy cannot always get as many ingredients or fresh ingredients due to being on the ship. Both are amazing and well worth the money IMO. But V&A has more flexibility with respect to fresh products and typically intends for you to spend more time at dinner as there is only one seating per night.

We usually either stay at GF so it's not too far to stagger back or we take a taxi back to our WDW resort and have the staff at the V&A call one for us (or have the GF concierge call one for us - honestly, it's a little hard to remember) who then drop us back at the front of our resort. You certainly do not want to find another way back to your hotel! I totally cannot recommend the resort buses afterwards :-)
