via napoli? pizza or what did you eat and how was it?

I went there a few days ago (in the world right now) and we went back... and i was able to alter a pizza but it was because of an anaphalactic allergy.

... I discovered the restaurant refuses to allow any special orders or menu modifications - including any omission of items from the pizzas...
It makes me think the pizzas are made in advance for specific times of the day...

I ate there a couple of weeks ago, and thought the food was very good. We split the Ortolano pizza and the salad (forget what it was called). I thought the pizza was very good. The sauce tasted like what tomato sauce should taste like, at least to me, the crust was thin and tasty, toppings were fresh, and I think they must brush some butter over the pizza before baking, because it had a faint butterieness (is that a word?) to it. And I wasn't expecting much of the salad, but I loved it, it had just the perfect amount of saltiness for me. I can't comment on substitutions as we didn't ask for any.
All in all we really liked and will be back.

My daughter had the spaghetti kids meal, 4 tiny veal meatballs and they were wonderful, just like the ones at Tutto. Very large portions too :) My pizza had 4 items but when it came I was surprised that the items were not mixed on each piece, mushrooms on one slice, ham on another, eggplant on another, and finally artichokes on another but it was soooo delicious :)
I will say, my mom had eggplant parm and my daughter the spag. so their meals came out first and our pizza was a good 5 minutes later, the waiter warmed us when we ordered that the pizza kitchen is not timed with the other dishes.
Even so, this is a must do for us on our next trip :)

Thanks for posting and glad your daughter enjoyed the spaghetti.

Oo - maybe they finally gave in and changed the policy..?

The only time I heard that they were NOT allowing it was during the soft openings and first few weeks. Understandable as the staff was still getting used to the menu and offerings themselves. Recently we have had reviews that state they WERE able to alter the pizza if needed.

Which to me means they wanted some time to see how the menu fared AS IS before dealing with special requests.

Never saw the big issue with it personally...

And they make all their pizza fresh when ordered.

Anything not italian on kids menus? Yes, I have one of the few kids that doesn't like pizza. He is not a big fan of any Italian food. I have an adr but am thinking of canceling if there isn't anything he would eat there. I just wanted to try some place new! plus i have been wanting to try the rissotto appy.

We went for soup & pizza and it was good and would definatley go back again. Food & service were both good :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Wow definetly not a large childs portion of spaghetti when we were there last Thursday. My DD only received 2 meatballs and ate her spaghetti in about 30 seconds. Then ate some of my and DH's pizza because she was still hungry. She's only 6 and not a big eater as I stated in a previous post.

I could see how it might fill up a younger child , even my son said gees mom I'd have to eat 5 plates of that spaghetti for it to fill me up.

Goes to show how opinions and reviews vary greatly from person to person.

We have ressie for this place in December and were excited to try it, but after reading these posts I think we might reconsider. My kids are VERY picky when it comes to their PLAIN CHEESE pizza!

So my question is how PLAIN is the cheese pizza? Does it have huge chunks of tomatoes, large amounts of basil throughout, etc. ? They wouldnt eat it if it looks too funky...I am not sure if I want to risk it or not. The pics here make the pizzas look too "gourmet". THANKS!!!!

It is NOT Americanized pizza. It is more traditional.

we just ate there last weekend and had great service and great food. Didn't try to split any meals, or special order anything...we wanted to try the food as listed on the menu (new combinations for us, so adventures in dining.) Prices are high, though (ours was covered by DxDP, but lunch for 2 with apps, entrees, dessert & coffee was about $79.

If you're not ordering off the kids menu, the quattro formaggio (4 cheese pizza) is a "white" pizza...no tomato sauce at all, just loads of lovely white cheeses.

here's the link to my review, complete with pictures:

I had mixed results. The service was excellent. My wife and I got the salad which we thought was very good. However the Pepperoni Pizza we got while Okay wasn't worth the $27 and really didn't notice the crust being that special as it is advertised to be (because of the water brought over from Italy.

DBF and I ate there last week. We had 2 TS credits to use on our last day of DP, and DBF loves pizza so I made the ressie to humor him (I had chosen all otehr restaurants, so it was least I could do.) There were just the 2 of us and we had our own table. We had the individual pizzas - he had the margherita (just a tomato and cheese pizza with some fresh basil leaves) and I had the pepperoni. Crust was great - crispy on outside and soft on inside - it had a few very small charred spots but that's the cooking method. DBF had a taste of mine and commented that it was good pepperoni. It was more authentic - not homogenized pizzeria fare (DBF had had a slice at Trails End earlier in trip and it had a spongy, tastefree crust - at Via Napoli it was real deal). For dessert, DBF had the fried cheesecake balls and I had a sundae with cherries and "ugly but good" cookies (one had hazelnuts and the other almonds - delish). I was wearing my birthday button so they brought me another desert - a small cookie cake with whipped cream and a candle and bright green swirly stuff on plate that was sour apple. (Not that I needed a second dessert!) They sang happy birthday in Italian. Service was pretty good - a little slow at times, but overall fine. We would go back.

DH had the Quattro Stagioni - eggplant, artichokes, prosciutto, mushrooms..He loved it. I tried it and didn't like it. The toppings were very fresh and tasty..but I didn't like the crust.. a little to charred for my taste.

Not for nothin' but if that is the proscitto on the left...I'd say it looks more like deli sliced ham :confused3

We ate there the first week it opened and thought it was great. We had the salad for 2 and the Margharita (sp?) pizza. We also shared a pitcher of Sangria. The pizza was huge, we took 3 pieces back to the hotel. Service was very good and we sat outside which was neat to watch the activity in the courtyard.

Your experience sounds like the perfect lunch to me and my wife

We ate here last Tuesday and both my Mom & I loved it! I had the 4 cheese pizza and mom had the margarita pizza. Both were awesome. And the best part was the dessert.......gelato! I would definitely try this restaurant again. :)
