Via Napoli Grand Opening Festivities

Just made our reservation online for our November trip! The best pizza I ever had in my life was in Rome a few years ago during our ABD trip. I'm hoping since they are importing all of the ingredients from Italy that it will be close to that pizza I had...can't wait to try it!:thumbsup2

The water is not actually imported from Italy, but they analyzed its composition and found a source in the U.S. that is virtually identical. One of the servers urged us to try the version with no cheese so we could really taste the crust. It was good, although I am a cheese fanatic. The sauce had a nice mild spice to it.

DH just told me they are only taking walk-ins through Sept. so we're going to go back there for an early lunch in the near future.

Do they serve beer? I didn't see any on the menu?

I am actually pretty excited about this restaurant. I am an extremely picky eater and Epcot was always an issue for me to find a meal. I don't like any of their counter service or current restaurants so we could never eat in the park really. I love the bakery in france but that isn't a meal lol. So I think this was needed for the more picky eaters like myself. There is nothing on the menu for the other Italian restaurant that i would ever eat. I just made my reservations this morning for our upcoming trip and I am pretty excited to be able to finally eat at one of the restaurants in Epcot!!

Yes, they hd 3 beers on the menu - Sam Adams seasonal, an Italian beer starting with an M(?), and one I can't remember. Was going to take pic of menu but thought it was all online. Beer was $9 per mug or $22 per pitcher (we got just over 5 mugs out of pitcher).

The pizza looks good and I know my kids would like it. Seems like a good place to pay OOP for if you are in the DDP.

just made an ADR for our trip in oct and really looking forward to it. Hope its better than our disaster at tony's last year.

Does anyone know if you can order the pizza with the toppings you want like if you only want cheese?

I'm sure they could do a cheese only for you. We actually ended up going back for lunch today. Since the ADRs don't start till Sept. we had to do walk up. They quoted a 45 min. wait but it was more like 10 mins. Click here for my "food porn" photos from the media event. I think sizing the pictures for the article last night is what made me so hungry for it today!

We were on the 2 hr Segway tour that morning..of the media event. They were setting it all up. Our Segway guide had already eaten there...CM type event. She loved it. She doesn't eat at Tuttu, doesn't care for it, but said Via Napoli is wonderful. It was, she said, much closer to the Italian food she grew up with. She couldn't stop raving about it. I think my dd and I may stop by for lunch this week, before heading home.
This same Segway CM told us that they told the CMs that they ( Via Napoli) were planning on putting in a take-out area in the future...for what it's worth.

love pizza...but the pizza from your hometown (local pizza place) is hard to top.the breakdown of how they charge you for a pie is confusing. large pie 2 ts ($27 for a cheese and pep) when a dinner at lecellier steak runs abt $36 at dinnertime and counts as 1 ts? Did i miss something? Also nxt year is the rest. on the ddp? thanks to all who have added to this post..the pizza place sounds like a good addition. N.Y. pie is still the best.

Looking at the menu - I'd get the veal parma for $26 plus the Italian soda/ice cream for dessert ($10) plus a beverage (espresso if it's on the DxDP or regular coffee) - so IMO that's a pretty good value for 1 TS credit.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if that's true about the take-out window. We were talking about that while dining today and my DH pointed out that the design of the building would make it quite easy to do. I definitely recommend stopping by if you can. It's very dangerous for me because I live too close and DH is no help because he loves it too. The only thing that will keep us in check is that I suspect it's going to be a hard-to-get ressie.

As for the food, the calamari was yummy as an appetizer - very flaky, not overly breaded. .

I have to ask - what do you mean by the calamari was flaky? I've heard it being described as tender or tough before; could you please be more specific?

The batter on the outside was flaky, not overly breaded.

I have had calamari in the past that had so much breading you can barely taste the calamari, so this is one of the measuring sticks for me. Also, they serve the calamari with plenty of dipping sauce which can actually be poured over the plate instead of requiring dipping.
