SIAP - I'm looking at booking 2, possibly 3, IGT/OGT/VGT staterooms for a family cruise. If there is availability, will Disney allow requests at the port for having the stateroom assignments closer together or even connecting?

One of the rules for _GT rooms is that no changes are allowed. If you book multiple rooms and adjoining rooms in that category are available, you will probably be assigned to them in the first place. I suppose it won't hurt to inquire at the port if you want to get closer rooms, but I would be surprised if you are able to switch, and would expect there to be a fee if you are permitted to, since there is a fee for moving to a more expensive room type.

There’s a cruiser in my group who changed her Vgt assignment recently, but she had to upgrade and you do it at the port if you’re not happy with your room, cost was $50 more per night. (Keep in mind the prices will be different for every catagory)

other than that, I only read one time someone called to change their assignment and had to speak to a supervisor. They had a toddler and got a HA room with roll-in shower. She really needed a tub. She pretty much downgraded, because her original room was an over-sized corner room.

Thanks. Is it possible Disney may include the Deluxe Family Verandahs (that can sleep 5) available to book as a VGT restricted fare (I guess that would be category 4A to 4D)? I'm looking at the Dec 19th - 24th Merrytime sailing on the Dream out of Miami and see quite a few verandah staterooms left that could accommodate 5 people.

They usually only allow 4 guests in VGT because they want flexibility in assigning verandah rooms to VGT bookings. Allowing 5 guests on such a booking would transform it automatically in a Cat 4 booking.

VGT won’t be for a specific category, and I’d be highly surprised if available for a party of 5. It’s usually 3-4 max. Folks have reported fairly good luck (not 100%) getting connecting or adjacent rooms if linked with another party. But if a 5-person room or connecting is an absolute must, I don’t recommend booking *GT.

If you see a Vgt and put in 5, most likely the rate will not show up. Often the restricted rates are for parties of 2 or 3. Sometimes 4, but that’s it. Our last one we were prepared to do 3 and 3 and move one of the grands into our room, but luckily there was a room for 4 at the discounted rate and a second room for 2.

I just checked that cruise for you, and when you put in 5 passengers, the GT categories disappear.
