I have never booked VGT before and was wondering if the VGT booking was an obstructed view verandah or a regular view room. The reservationist did not mention an obstructed view. Thanks!

You won’t know. Thats what the restrictions are. We got a very good room the last time we booked a Vgt room. You are only guaranteed a veranda room. Plus you can’t change it. But I wouldn’t hesitate to book it again.

It is a surprise! It could be anywhere from a 7A (Navigator obstructed) to 4A (Family veranda) and anything in between. But it will be a veranda cabin and it will fit the number of people you booked into it.
We have booked VGT a few times and have had very good experiences (well, except once but that had to do with our upstairs neighbors more than the cabin) In fact one of our VGTs became our current favorite cabin. It is worth the risk if you are wanting a good price.

You are basically ending up with the rooms that aren't booked, so it is cruise dependent. When I did VGT, we had an unobstructed view.

VGT is basically a discounted last-minute rate for verandah category. There is no guarantee if you get assigned an obstructed verandah or a regular one but for sure you will get a verandah. You could be given any room in categories 4,5,6, or 7. If you just want a verandah regardless if it's obstucted or not, and at a good price, then booking VGT would be a good choice. But if you want a specific room, at a particular category, then booking the regular rate would be your best bet.

We booked a VGT cabin on the Dream for our cruise this past December, and we got a very nice unobstructed deck 8 verandah. But Dream class ships don't have any really severely obstructed verandahs, so even if you get a Cat 7, you will probably still be happy.
