Wondering if anyone has any feedback on booking a VGT on the fantasy? Would be our second cruise and our first time booking this type of room. Is the discount worth it? Can you still choose your dining time?
Thanks so much

We've done VGT 3 times on the Fantasy. We had great rooms. Except for the one that was far aft (due to vibration issues). They room was great, good location and all, but the vibrations were bad.

It's just like booking a specific room, as far as selecting dining times.

We've done VGT on several of our DCL cruises. We were always happy with the cabin we got.

I would be Leary of booking it because of the vibration issues which are known on this vessel.... I'd pay extra for midship... that's what we are doing for our 7 night next year.

We just did a GTY and couldn't have been happier with our room! We received one of the huge aft corner rooms with the extended verandah (7190). Yes, we felt a pretty steady vibration but it didn't bother us at all and the large room and huge wrap around verandah was worth a little vibration. We would love to have that room again but I don't believe that particular one is bookable and is only assigned to GTY rates from what I have read.

We have booked numerous VGT cabins on the fantasy. Some have been good. Some bad. Just the risk you take - the savings can be substantial.

Last month we went on to see if we could book a September cruise our relatives were booked. The only option was 04E Family Extended Veranda cabin. From our research we expected to be on Level 5 however we were notified last week that we were assigned 7190. We actually paid more for this cruise than our relatives, who book last year. However, we are thrilled with our location as we have always stayed aft on the right side. It is our first time on the Fantasy so we'll see about the vibration but we're so excited to have been assigned this huge cabin. 🤞

We're also booked for November '24 on the Fantasy in 6188 which is practically below 7190.

We absolutely loved 7190 last month! I would suggest making sure you have clothes hung on each of the hangers but that is really it to stop the hangers from rattling. Also, I take a little USB fan to plug in beside the bed so that white noise helps a bit too. The verandah is amazing and we loved being out there for sail away with a glass of wine and All Hands on Deck to enjoy. Best view leaving Castaway Cay as well!

We have one booked for November and awaiting our fate. Last November we got assigned a 7A on deck 5 aft. We ended up upgrading to forward which is where we prefer to stay. We had to wait until all aboard and no shows to get an upgrade offer but we got it. We missed the sail away party while we changed rooms but it was worth it. Saved almost $1000 on the upcoming room so it was enough of a savings to tempt fate again lol.

In order to take advantage of the CM rate we're always assigned a GTY status. We're Platinum and our history is that we've gotten a seriously vibrating aft cabin almost 20% of the time.

We were given a second, lesser, non vibrating cabin each night so that we could fall asleep. We didn't mind and had good cruises.

We have a Dec cruise booked but didn't want to take a chance and have paid full price for a forward cabin.

Hi. I’ve never done VGT before but we’re thinking of booking a 7 night Western Caribbean 24th August 2024. Is this normally a cruise that offers VGT and when do they normally go on sale ?
Currently 2Adults 1 Child is approx $6k for verandah cat 4B. What do you think it would be approx for VGT ?

Thanks for any help or advice.

My cousin is a family of 3 and they paid more than that for a 7A GTY this past August. I think they paid $6200ish.

Oh really . Thanks for letting us know.
I guess I can book a room now & cancel it if a cheaper VGT becomes available at a later date.

The only problem with that is that the VGT's usually don't come out until after the PIF date.

It's quite possible, even after PIF penalties are applied, that you can still save money by doing this. We did it on a B2B cruise we had on the Fantasy several years ago.

I can’t remember what I had for breakfast yesterday so going back six months and trying to remember cabin numbers on three different cruise lines is asking a lot. After so many cruises, five in a little over a year post pandemic, they’ve all run together, sorry.

Good to know, is midship the best for the fantasy to avoid the vibration issue?

The vibration comes from the propellers so the further forward the better.
