VGT assigned today!

I'm so freaking happy.. only 12 days to go for my second cruise. Doing same port as last year but now I have an extra night (5 nights). Got room 6064, last time i was also on the 6th deck so I'm happy about that. Just wanted to share since i don't really have many people to share this with

I know some people can't stand the thought of not picking their own room. I love booking GT rates and I think every single time I've gotten a higher category than what I could have afforded to book. I'm not fussy about location. I always think it's exciting to see what you get.

Same, I actually had a indoor stateroom and upgraded to the VGT for not much more money. Admittedly I kept refreshing every few minutes for the past days awaiting what room we had gotten

When you book a hotel room you never get to pick your room and sometimes you're pleasantly surprised.

I love the sideways inside rooms on deck 6. If I'm going to have to book an inside room without a discount that's what I'll go for. With a VGT or OGT, I couldn't care less where I end up. I'm just happy to not be in an inside room.

Same! I like the verandah too much and cost was the main reason I had a indoor room at first

There is a difference though in that unless your hotel is a houseboat, movement is not a consideration. For many people who get seasick but insist on cruising anyway (I don't get it...if something made me sick, I'd avoid it since there are plenty of other vacations and places to go out there), having a cabin in a specific area is necessary. For others, we like certain locations on the ship for various reasons.

And what some consider an upgrade, others would never in a million years pay for. I LOVE being as high and as far forward as possible, and am perfectly fine with an OV to accomplish that. The one time I did a 9B GTY (one of the deulxe family OVs on Deck 9, maybe 8), I ended up getting put in a Deck 5 cabin that was midship. Most people thought I was crazy for not being excited about it since I got bumped to a veranda and an extended one at that, but I HATED being that low and I HATED only having a section of the balcony I could use without other people watching. (And no, I wasn't doing anything other than reading - but I don't like to be watched. After that I swore to never again do a category GTY or a type GT again.
