VGF room request

Odd question here....I don’t have a specific request on where I want to be, but I have a request for where I don’t want to be. I have a standard view studio booked. I don’t care where it is, what it’s near, etc. as long as it doesn’t overlook the arrival/drop-off covered roof. Any tips on what to request? Or can I just all MS and tell them what I don’t want? And, yes, I know-nothing is guaranteed. Thanks for any help.

I would ask for high floor and nothing else. The covered roof part apparently is only a problem if you get 1221, on the 2nd floor.

Alternatively, you could ask for a ground floor room? I doubt too many people ask for that? We also really wanted to just avoid 1221. I think we requested a high floor, and facing the main building.

Ask for something you do want vs listing something you don't want. In the past people have had MS list that they do not want an HA room - and then that's what they got. I suspect that the room assignor did not notice the not part or expects requests to list something that is wanted. I think the high floor or ground floor is good or I'd do something like request a view of the main GF building or of Poly.

Thank you both. I thought about ground floor but there are only three or four standard studios there. I worry that they might put me in floor two if nothing is available on the ground floor. I like using view of GF main building. Hopefull6 not the dreaded second floor room or HA. My son really wants the rain shower. Our family would all be disappointed not to have that!

Ah, the dreaded Porte Cochere room.... We were lucky enough to be assigned to it the first stay we had at VGF...

I now always request a high floor...

Are there any bad views in the Lakeview studio category?

We'll be arriving late, so I'm thinking chances of a request being granted are not very good. Just trying to adjust expectations. It will be our first stay here.

There are 3 studio rooms that have a lakeview. Rooms 04 and 10 face the Polynesian with a more direct lakeview. Room 14 faces MK with a limited fireworks view. We always ask for xx04 or xx10. Just our preference as they receive the best view of the early sun and the most sun which you may or not like.

I *think* the only bad view is 1221. 1221 is legendary, however. (there is a "worst room/view" thread somewhere on the Dis and that one seems to win all the time.)

I will say, though, back in August we had 1421, 2 floors up, standard studio, and it was GREAT! We had a view of the monorail and sunset, and a view of the lake to the left. Even 1321, if you look on touring plans, is not bad.

(this makes 1221 all the more "awful," because the other rooms all have such nice views.)

Remember that 1221 is standard view. One would expect the not so great views to be in that category, rather than lakeview.

It is incomparable to virtually ever other standard view there. How do you like this Grand Californian Concierge level garden view? All I could say is that at least the roof rock was green......

We had that room in December. It was just for 1 night though.
