VGF Room Question

We just got back from VGF, and stayed the same time (10 days), and had the same approximate aged boys---and we were FINE. I heard the same comments before we bought into VGF about the Studio's, and I personally think they are greatly over-exaggerated.

First of all, we didn't pack a 'full' 10-days of clothes anyhow, as we used the Washers/Dryers every couple of days--so that cut down on our luggage. We used the drawers underneath the queen bed for storage, the 'cubby' at the lockoff (use a luggage stand), and the shelving by the Murphy Bed. We closed the pull-out couch each morning, and still had more than enough room to get around. There is also ample space in the closet, which we used for our dirty clothes pile, and all hung clothes.

I really get annoyed with some of these replies always scaring people off from staying 4-people in a Studio. I don't know what some people do on vacation, but we are at pools, parks, enjoying the GF, seeing Disney, etc---and not really in our rooms other than to sleep.

Thanks so much for sharing your views. I'm glad to hear that there was enough room. We are really looking forward to it.

We will give back to the group by taking lots of pictures and will post a full review for everyone to share.

That's a little unfair. Fact is, everyone responding is sharing their own opinion on the situation. A big part of my reason for buying into DVC in the first place was to upgrade our vacations from a standard hotel room to a multi-room villa. YOU may only use the room to sleep but *I* spend much more than 8 hours / day in the villa.

We've been DVC owners for over 10 years--bought when our youngest was an infant and now she's in middle school. One of the staples of our trips was the ability for the adults to continue to enjoy themselves without being lights-out at 8-9pm along with the kids. And not having to tiptoe around the room while the kids napped.

It's also worth noting that OP was talking about FIVE people in a studio...including 3 adults. Sorry but my wife and I aren't sharing a single room with two kids AND some other adult--even if it's a close relation like grandparent, aunt, family friend, etc.--for any amount of time.

I would gladly spend just 6 or 7 nights in a One Bedroom rather than 10 nights in a Studio for the same points. GLADLY! Been doing it for more than a decade.

Obviously if someone raises these questions, they have doubts about their own comfort level. You choose your own vacation style...don't get annoyed with me for promoting mine.

I agree with PP Tim. Also when we go on vacation we expect the room to have enough storage for us and not have to bring things from home.
Any room your in has enough room if your only using it to sleep in. We like the GFV and will stay again.

I just got back from 15 days at VGF 2 adults and 1 child. was almost perfect for us. no storage space. with 3 adults and too pre teens would be way tooooooo small

not trying to scare you off or upsetting some of these ppl with my opinion. I took a 3 year old and we did spend time in our room. My wife and I loved being in our room. if it was up to my son we'd be at blizzard beach 24/7. having 2 showers will be a plus. our room was to die for. monorail view overlooking the wedding pavilion and poly. plus u can see the bay lake towers if you plan on just sleeping you will be tight but fine

Not sure why you are getting so worked up about what I posted--as that is *my* opinion--nor did I single you out. It just seems every time someone posts about a Studio--everyone comes on and makes a big deal about them only being comfortable if there are only a couple people per room. There are a lot of reports of staying more people in the room and still being comfortable.

I just mentioned my opinion so the OP is not immediately scared-off, and would second-guess his room (which really sucks to think that before a vacation). Although I did miss the fact of (3) adults--I thought he only had 2.

If you are not planning on being in the room that much why spend a bundle on it?

Have a great trip!

And I think that is a key point if you only use your room to sleep I can see why a studio might be fine.

A lot of people don't, we spend a lot of time in our room, we cook the odd dinner sometimes watch movies sometimes just chill so we would hate a studio for four in fact we always book a 2 bedroom for four. We'd rather drop a night or two than have less space.

The room you need is entirely dictated by how you use it.

We are 4 and we always stay in a studio. I have to admit though, I think 5 people, 3 of which are adults, is too much for a studio for 10 nights. But that's me.

Could you do it? Sure, but it will be cramped I think. JMO. Now if it were 2 adults and 3 kids, that would be different. I think 3 adults and 2 kids is going to feel cramped.

The bed appeared to be big enough for a 9 year old of average size.

Hi all,

We are staying for the 1st time since buying VGF in March 2015. We booked a Studio for 10 nights. There will be 3 adults and to kids (9&11 boys).

Was wondering if the studio will be too small? Not sure how large the bed that folds out from under the TV is. I guess one of the kids can sleep on that.

We spent very little time in the room. We are usually gone first thing in the AM for rope drop and often the last to leave the park.

What does everyone think?

Same here. We've booked a VGF studio for 10 nights next October - 2 adults and 3 children ages 16, 14, and 11. We've stayed together in a Poly room and were fine, and although this will be tighter I'm sure we'll be okay.

We did give the children the option of more space in a 1 bedroom for fewer nights or 10 nights in a studio and they unanimously voted for the studio. If we find it too squished we'll go for a 1 bedroom next time as we'll have added more points by then.

Oh my, I cannot imagine. :faint: No way in the world I would want to attempt this. I am not sure that the bed that folds down out of the chest is going to hold anything other than a really small child.

The Murphy sleeper is 72x32". Standard bunk sized bed. So unless the person is over six feet tall, or "pooh sized," they should be fine for sleeping.

Storage will be the issue. When my family of five (3 young kids) uses the VWL studio that is the shortcoming. It is doable, but definitely not spacious.

As former RV'ers who stayed at FW for years, I have to say that we find the studios to be big enough for our needs. Our old RV was only 320 sq. ft. And all the Disney studios are bigger than that. We pack light (we only use 12x16" bags), utilize the laundry rooms and have virtually no problems. Sure, it would be better to always get something bigger, but using studios regularly just makes those bigger rooms more memorable.

That being said, when I go back to WDW in January, it will be only the second trip in which it is just my DH and myself. Our kids are now older and don't travel with us all the time. The studio will feel even larger. :cool1:
