I was hoping to book a stay at Riviera for DH, myself, and 4 young adult “kids” for 2br w standard view

I went on the member site at 8 on the dot and the room was available but when I clicked to books I got the message that I was out of booking window. So I refreshed and the only availability was for preferred view. Personally, I just can’t justify spending the extra 30 points for a view so I waitlisted the standard view at Riviera and booked at VGF. I’ve never stayed at either. For my dates (which are a Sun-Sat stay) only the Monday was unavailable so I was so bummed

As I think it over though and getting over initial disappointment , I’m thinking VGF might be the better option and maybe I should drop the waitlist.

anyone who has stayed at both care to share opinions and pros/cons?

In about six weeks I´ll be staying doing a split stay at both. Sorry I can help you now. We have stayed at VGF and love it.

Hope you have a great stay. I think the parks you’re choosing to attend should help make your decision. RIV is beautiful and new but if you plan on more time in MK you still have more transportation time. If your planning EPCOT and HS I would stay at RIV just to be able and walk to the Skyliner will feel amazing and simple. We often say the Skyliner is the first “ride” of the day.

I second the PP's view on which park determining. We stayed at the Riv in December and the ease of transportation to and from both Epcot and Studios was great! We also ate wonderful dinners at both Toppolino's and Trattoria Al Forno. Having the ability to take the skyliner for the boardwalk eatery's is nice as well. I always said the BWI and villas was the best location bar none for the ability to walk to 2 parks, but the skyliner makes both the Riv and Caribbean Beach just as good of a location.

Next time, make sure to check the clock you were using it and compare it to the official time (down to the seconds) on a website. Some laptops, phones, etc. have slightly different times and if you are off by a few seconds the DVC site will say your booking window hasn't opened yet.

thanks all. at the end of the day I figured we couldn't go wrong with either place. We do plan on going to all parks. Our waitlist came through for Riviera so I'm excited to stay there for the first time :)
