VGF or BWV

We are considering staying at VGF or BWV the third week in January. I have a few questions.

1) What is the likelihood I'll be able to book a 1 bedroom for a week at VGF at the 7 month window?

2) I think Marathon weekend is the weekend before the 19th. I'm having a hard time finding the 2015 dates. Can anyone tell me what weekend it is in January?

3) If we can't book VGF, what are the chances at BWV?

4) We own at AKV and while I love that resort, I'd like to try something new. Is it worth booking now and switching later?

The 2015 WDW Marathon Weekend is January 7-11, 2015.

By booking your home resort at 11 months (and while still available during home resort priority period), you guarantee yourself a room if there is nothing open at the 7 month window at the other resorts you are interested. If there is no availability to switch at 7 months, you can wait list and use the replace an existing reservation option.

If I book now, will I get a new reservation number when I change? I know that January is considered to be value season, do you think I'll be able to get into those other resorts?

Sometimes they modify the reservation which keeps the same number. Other times they will cancel and rebook it which would result in a new number.

We don't stay on property during January, so I don't know.

You might be running into Martin Luther King weekend with the third week of January. Book your home resort and hope for the best at seven months out.

Anytime after MLK birthday you should be fine for booking a 1 bedroom at BWV, GFV you probably will be able to get a 1 bedroom again after MLK.

As for MLK weekend, I believe a pool view 1 br at BWV will be open at 7 months. GFV will probably be sold out.

Similar question, I have four days booked at AkV and three at BWV. I own at both and have a two bedroom booked December 13-20. Would love to try and get part of the stay at VgF any idea if I have a better chance the last three days or earlier in the week?

Your best bet will be if you have a few of the days when the points increase as you get closer to Christmas but I would guess that Dec at VGF will be hard for a non-member but you will have a better chance when the points are higher and if you want a dedicated not lock-off. I think if you really want to try a stay at VGF you might want to try going at a less crowded time of year.

I don't mind if its more points and I would be happy with a dedicated. We usually only go once a year and that will be the best week for us. But in the future I am sure we will travel in November again which is our preferred time. It's harder now that our kids are on different schedules to find a time to go together.
