VGF Availability

Hello all,

My husband and I are currently in our ROFR period for points at VGF. We are buying through **********. The broker mentioned we should close by mid December. Here is my question for the pros:
What kind of studio or 1br availability(at VGF or any DVC property) do you think there will be for March/April 2016?
We are getting banked points from 2014 that expire in July 2016.
We obviously would love to stay at our home resort of VGF, but imagine the availability will be very low. We are open doing just a night or two at VGF to "try it out" for our big trip in 2017.
Any kind of feedback is appreciated, as we are brand new to the DVC world.

You might be able to get two days together at VGF, but don't expect any more than that, and you'll need to be flexible with your dates.

Plan the you will be staying somewhere else and book any days available at VGF.

You will definitely be able to get into Saratoga. Old Key West and Animal Kingdom (Kidani) would most likely be available too.

Unfortunately availability for VGF is already tight. Single days here and there with 5 days for a 1br lake view the last week of April. But who knows if that will still be there.

OKW and AKV Kidani are both great resorts that we enjoy.

VGF is fairly booked already for March and early April. We are going so i have been watching it.

For easter you might have issues getting anything at those resort. Even SSR might be an issue for those 2 weeks. I'd assume SSR and hope for something else. You can always wait list but for only 2 options.

We own and VGF and we were unable to book a std studio for the week before Easter and we tried at around 9 or 10 months. As owners at VGF if you want a std studio you should plan on planning at least 10 months in advance. Some holidays you probably have to be on it right at the 11 month mark or even walk in the rez. But if you can afford the 2 br you have a much better chance in general.

Thank you for the feedback. We are fairly flexible with our dates, anytime in March or April. We may take whatever we can get at VGF, then try 2 other resorts. Using the banked points we received. We usually do the parks from open to close, but this trip is leaning toward a "learning the resorts" vacation. But of course, we will sneak in MK and Epcot.
