So my wife wanted to buy VGF points. I love BLT and can't imagine staying elsewhere. Plus it's not the best time financially for us to make a major purchase. So I debated just staying at VGF at the 7 month window. My DW argued that it would be years until we could get in at 7 months. I must admit I thought the same. Well guess who got a 1 br lake view VGF room for 5 nights next February. Yep, me. My DW is very happy and I must admit it just may be fun trying a new resort. But I will miss the view of the castle, lake, boats, fireworks, and monorails from my balcony

Congrats! I also got in there at seven months, on my VWL points. I suspect that the opposite of your original thought is true- that is, we will be relatively MORE able to book there early on, than we will in coming years as more and more points at VGF are sold.

I anticipate that a higher percentage of owners at VGF will always stay at their home resort, than do owners at the other resorts...so the opportunity to get in at seven months presents itself now while the points are available in sales inventory, rather than already owned. Only time will tell if this is true.

There will be seasonal opportunities for some room types at seven months-as evidenced by the success many have at VGC, despite it being the only DVC option at Disneyland.

But I'm betting that the only studios in Florida that sleep 5 and have two bathrooms, combined with being located at the flagship property, will make at least this room category of VGF "home priority only" when enough points there are sold.

Congrats!

We got a studio at our 7 mth window for February as well, using our OKW pts.

With VGF sales ongoing right now, I figured this might be our only chance to try VGF...it'll be so much harder to get once it's sold out.

We got in a 7 months, one bedroom standard view for 7 nights. I figure that while there aren't as many owners yet, it will be easier to get in now but will become increasingly more difficult as owners join.

We are owners at BLT too and love it there but we like to do a different resort about every other trip and Grand Floridian has always been my dream resort to stay at but I could never justify the price of the rooms.

Can't wait to stay there!

This all makes sense. I didn't think that rooms are available because it is the early stage of selling the resort. I totally agree that most VGF owners will exclusively stay at there home resort. This may be a rare chance for us to stay here. Now I'm glad we changed the resie from BLT.
