ok, been a while since i posted, but i need some advice. giving my wife a quick birthday trip to DL and we have been to wdw over 50 times but never DL. Ariving 2/24 staying thru 2/27. weather shows about high of 65. for you S cal folks, shorts or pants? how cold will it get at night.

we are ready for rain, but the cold is the unknown variable. also open to any tips. we will have 2 1/2 days at the DL hotel and we can not wait.

Not sure where you are from, but if you're use to snowy winters, then more than likely the weather will be nice to you.
Just remember that Disneyland is located in a desert, so during the day it can feel warm, but at night it can be quite cold.
Most Socal folks will be the ones bundled up as that will be considered cold to us.
You can always store your warm clothes in a locker at the parks, or just take an afternoon break back at the hotel, then come back out in your warmer gear.

This thread will give you lots of helpful information: A DLR Guide for WDW Vets. Wearing layers is a great idea. Temperatures in the 60's and sunny can be very different from 60's and overcast. Also, the temps can drop pretty quickly once the sun goes down. If you will be waiting for the parade or WOC, you will need something to keep warm. The inactivity combined with cold pavement can get you chilly. As an onsite guest, you will have EMH -- take advantage of that extra hour! You can get so much done then before the crowds start showing up.
Do you have plans for a special birthday meal? You might want to get a MSEP dining package with reserved viewing or a WOC dining package or the WOC Dessert Party. All can be fun and special.
The Royal Swing Ball might be something fun for your wife's birthday. Takes place every Saturday night (usually starts at 7pm or 7:30pm -- check the entertainment schedule) with a live band at PFF. This is a tradition that was started by Walt. The band on the 25th is supposed to be Tim Gill's All Stars -- very fun (cocktail jazz)! If you swing dance, you can have a birthday dance for your wife (let me know and I can help set it up). Even if you don't swing dance, just come on by and spin her around Walt's floor just once. :)
Whatever you do, have a wonderful trip!

We have had much more rain than normal and it looks like your last couple days may be rainy days. Wunderground is showing mid 60s to high 50s for your days. For me, that means long pants, a jacket and gloves and hat after the sun goes down.

I'm also a Disneyworld Vet but I will say about my time in Disneyland thats different than DW, while the temperature changes in Florida from the morning to afternoon to evening, California's seems to be more drastic. I was caught off guard how cold I was in the morning and then how hot i was in the afternoon and then freezing again at night. I wore a thick cardigan in the morning and put it in my fiance's backpack in the afternoon and would take it out again at night. Layers are a very good idea.

One of the things I quickly learned when I moved to California, is if you are in the sun, you will feel hot, and the air temperature will feel much cooler the minute you step into the shade. It's very different from other parts of the country where the shade helps you feel a little cooler, but not much. Once the sun goes down or if it's overcast, it cools off very quickly. I always bring a warm layer that I stash in a locker, or I plan to head back to the hotel for a quick change of clothes around dinner time. I've sometimes been in shorts and a t-shirt during the daytime and needed jeans and a warm sweatshirt at night.

thank you all for the great advice. 5 1/2 hours till departure.

As AP's we always rented a locker. We wear hoodies/jackets in the morning, those go into the locker by Noon, and come out at night for fireworks.
