Veterans Day weekend...whats it compared to?

So the husband and i would like to try to do a quick kid-free trip in November. For this to happen we have to go by my mom's work schedule, since she'll be babysitting, and she is a teacher. So we're eyeing Veteran's Day- thinking Thursday night late arrival (11/9) to Sunday evening (11/12).

We've gone to WDW with our kids, and since they are toddlers and not in school yet we've had the luxury of picking any time of the year to go. We have always gone the first week of December, which has been lovely! I'm slightly scared of a holiday weekend. I've read a lot about Christmas vacation...will Veterans Day weekend be like that? Will Epcot (being last weekend of F&W) be like that? We are morning people and can easily make RD- so would we have to do typical RD for parks, go nap/relax mid day at resort (cause we are on our toddlers' schedule and who doesn't LOVE naps lol) and head back at night? Just not sure what to expect. I gotta search harder- is it's marathon weekend too? I thought I read that somewhere. What does that mean? I tried searching boards but couldn't find any info for the impact of a marathon specific on Veteran's Day. TIA sorry if kind of long!

There's a marathon in DLR that weekend, but not so sure about WDW. But Veteran's Day weekend will still have very high crowds. Last weekend of F/W in Epcot will be especially busy.

F&W half marathon is the weekend before veteran's day so the only "effect" would be if people came for that and stayed all week through the next weekend

"Jersey week" is that week though so crowds presumably will be heavier that weekend because of that (long weekend for all NJ students)

I don't think Veteran's day weekend would be any comparison to Christmas vacation. During the week between Christmas and New Years pretty much every school in the country is off (including tons of locals) and Disney runs extremely long hours in an attempt to accommodate the increased (often 8-11 or 12 with EMH every day at MK from 7-8). I'm sure Epcot will be very busy as it is pretty much every weekend during F&W especially since it is the last weekend.

That weekend will be really crowded at Epcot at night, and will slightly spill over to the days. I don't feel like it really affected the rest of the parks though. It also traditionally had free dining offered, but that may not be this year. The weather could be a crapshoot too...one year it was beautiful, the next couple miserable...the only time I experienced it more schizophrenic was over New Year's.

That being said...with all adults, I'd do it. There's less pressure.

Of all the holidays, Veterans day would be the least busy. Many schools do not get that holiday off.

I don't know if that's true anymore. Most of the schools I'm familiar with (west coast and western states) have it off. The parents, on the other hand, may not. Even the major company my husband used to work for (veteran started and owned) didn't get that day off.

I think as PP mentioned as adults only trip for experienced park goers, along with being RD people who will have FP set, you should be fine. It will be more crowded than your usual time with all the events converging as mentioned above, including Jersey week, Veterans weekend, and end of F & W, with locals coming in the weekend. But nothing comparable to Christmas or Easter! Epcot will be craziest, so maybe do Friday, and be prepared for evening to be busy in WS, but you can navigate the crowds with just the two of you, and grab some drinks and snacks to try if you like! Have fun!

We will be there that weekend through the 16th. Not ideal, but our weekdays should be good. We are all adults and Disney vets. One of my friends lives local and said they days off for the schools there should be that Friday. In Louisiana ( at least in new Orleans area) the kids do not get off for Veterans Day.

Last year it was busy but manageable. I wouldn't say "very high crowds". Absolutely nothing compared to the wait times this past week. We also did mvmcp on the Sunday the 13th and I thought it was a pretty quiet party.

Was there last November. The weekend was crowded but by Monday it had eased up significantly. Not only was it a holiday weekend but the last weekend of Food & Wine. So EPCOT was crowded but manageable.
