About 2 1/2 months ago I called the Grand Floridan and made arrangements to get a slipper dessert. I gave them my credit card and everything. This past Weds. We went to the Grand Flordian Cafe for Dinner (it was great) and our waitress Claudette (moving to Chef Mickeys, ask for her, she will remember us) told me there was not slipper for me. I said can you check again. She went in the back and talked to the baker chef and they went through the book. The both kept telling me they are so sorry, but the person who took my order, lost it. She did not put it in the book, so it was not there. He said he would make me one right away and Claudette went and talked to the head of dining. She told me to call in the morning ASAP. I did and they would only let my talk to the manager and she could have cared less. She asked if I wanted to change all my plans and maybe they could do something for me. She did not act very caring at all.

Later that day I got a message saying the did not charge my card so everything was ok. And thay did not charge my card because there was not an order placed.

Hello I placed the order, they called my house personally to take it. Claudette and the chef even wanted to get the to deliver the dessert to my room, but the management played me off. This was the only reason we had dinner at the Grand Floridian. Claudette was in tears because she could see the sadness in my face.

Do you think I should call Disney and let them know what happened and how disappointed I was. I am still really upset about it, because it was to have DH & I's name on it since this was our late honeymoon. I want them to know how wonderful Claudette was, but I also think they need to know about the lack of professionalism by the person who lost my order and credit card info. and the management playing me off, saying there was never an order.

When I told my mom and sister what happened they both cried becuase I called them right when I made the order and kept showing them the pictures. They knew how much I was counting on that special moment.

Sorry you were so dissapointed. I'm glad the CM went out of her way to help you, that was great of her. :)

I called from my room the Disney DIning number to cancel my slipper dessert for the GF last Oct because the cake at LTT was so horrible - I didnt want anymore of it!! The CM that took my call apologized and said she'd make a note and not charge me for the slipper dessert -

so we went to the GF and the CM that was taking care of us, never mentioned the slipper dessert - my mom and dd (whose bday it was for) got bored and left to shop - we kept waiting for the bill 25MIN later she said we couldnt leave because we had a slipper dessert!! :faint: NOW she gets it!!

so call the dining CM - ask for a supervisor, see if that helps...

:grouphug:

I would deffinatly call and let the upper mgt what happened. By all means let them know that Claudette did a good job too.

I am so sorry that you had a disappointment. I agreee with the PPs that a call, or better yet, a letter would be a good idea. I hope you get a satisfactory resolution.

I want to encourage you not to dwell on this one disappointment. If I'm reading your post and sig correctly, this was your first trip to WDW and a late honeymoon. What a special trip! Please focus on what I hope were many magical moments and don't let a dessert ruin the memories of your vacation.

It is a good lesson we can take out of this experience, though: We should always be sure that we get a written confirmation of everything. We cannot see their computers, so if we want to keep our disappointments to a minimum, it would serve us well to always get anything we're really counting on in writing.

Sorry to hear there was a mix up. :(

I think I can see what part of the problem was with your slipper. You called 2 1/2 months ago for an ADR/dessert you wanted last week. That is way too early. They only need 48 hours notice.

So lesson to others wanting the Cinderella Slipper at the GF, you only need to call a week to 48 hours before or you run the risk of your order getting lost.

Does anyone have a picture of this slipper dessert? I would really like to see what it looks like.

Well, for our 20th anniversary 2 years ago, I made arrangements for a special cake and the slipper dessert for 2 diffferent dinners. I called 2 months in advance. At that time, I was told they needed at least 30 days. Anyway, after making the initial order I called back a month later to confirm, then I called back everyweek to reconfirm. I stayed on top of it. Everything worked out fine. We got both when we were supposed to.

So my advice is, if you want to make your request/order early, stay on top of it and reconfirm , reconfirm, reconfirm. You may seem like a pain, but it's worth it. Everytime I called the staff was always nice and courteous. By the last phone call we were wonderful friends. Oh! And when they brought our specialty anniversary cake out, the pastry chef delivered it to our table as she wanted to meet me as we had spoken so many times! Too funny.

I hope all works well for you, and that you had a magiccal HM in spite of your slipper ooops!

Blessings,
Winnie

Thanks for all the advice. I know when I called I asked for a comfirmation and she told me just to let them know when we got there. The Chef said I did the right thing, by calling that far in advance. He said it takes a week to make one. I think I will call them today. I am going to write a letter about Claudette, because she was great. I will let everyone know what the out come is.
