Very specific POR scenario

Totally random POR scenario question:

We are a family of 5 and we cannot survive in one room/one bathroom, we've done a variety of different resorts in the past but are considering two rooms at POR.

What would be ideal would be a king room connected to a 5 sleeper room-this gives everyone their own bed (my little guy can take the fold down). My oldest is 18 so I can book the kid's room with her as the lead, no issue.
HOWEVER I'm afraid that if we book these two more specific room times, the chances of getting them connecting is low and I really would want them connecting (I understand it's never a guarantee and we'd survive if not, it just would be a zillion times easier)

The other option is booking two regular standard rooms, and praying we get put in AB.

What I don't want to happen is we get two connecting queen rooms in the mansions and then my youngest wants to sleep in our room since there's an extra bed and/or his sisters give him a hard time about sharing. We just don't sleep well in one space with the kids.

If there are three beds, the kids will be great sharing a room. And, I could just book two 5th sleepers...but a king bed sounds nice on vacation and this eliminates all possibility of anyone trying to join our room.

Are the chances just two low for a King Bed/5th sleeper connecting scenario? We'd be going mid-August, so not super peak time.

The best option would be to call Disney reservations and book a multiple room reservation. You would be able to book both rooms under the same reservation number, thereby giving you the best chance of getting connecting rooms. The reservation is under one adult's name. You don't have to split the family into two rooms. The people on the reservations would be able to stay in either room and their key cards/Magic bands would open both doors. We have used it when traveling with extended family and it is a great way to insure that you get connecting rooms.

I know that connecting rooms aren't guaranteed. No one needs to tell me that. But we have always gotten connecting rooms when we stay at POR. :)

By the way, we have been in king rooms at POR and they had connecting doors. :)

What about renting DVC points to get a 2-bedroom villa?

And for BLT or AKL-Kidani, those 2-bedroom villas have three (3) full bathrooms.

This has been our family's favorite resort, we loved others as well but this one is in our hearts.

Bring along a nightlight & cheap air mattress and pump (Walmart was our go-to) for the little one so you have it if you need it. We are a family of 4 and our son stayed on an air mattress for years without complaint simply because he and dd were too big to share and didn't want to share. If I remember correctly we'd move the table and chairs and put it there or put it in front of the TV, as long as it is filled in place it fits anywhere. We'd deflate and then inflate again every day - easy peasy for us.

Other than reserving a villa/suite that provides exactly what you want, I don't think you can guarantee to have those 2 rooms connect. They may or may not even be on the same floor or same building. If you are willing to risk that, go ahead and book the 2 rooms (king and 5th sleeper). But if the possibility of not being near each other is a deal-breaker, find a reservation that will sleep all of you with the bed accommodations you desire -- probably a 2BR villa.

I learned many stays ago that it is best to just book the room configuration that will work best for you instead of keeping fingers crossed and hoping the resort can fulfill requests. As others have noted, I would look into a 2 BR villa or even consider calling the Swan/Dolphin directly and seeing if they can put this together for you - Swan/Dolphin can actually put rooms together to create suites to give you the room configuration you are looking for.

There aren't a lot of king rooms at the moderates or values, and they may not even connect to 5th sleepers (only in AB). I think chances are slim that you would get that combo, especially since king rooms are a separate booking category. You would have to book 2 separate reservations and note that they are together. @andrewilley is the POR/POFQ expert. He may be able to answer the question if this combo of rooms even exists.

Thanks, all. We've done villas (1 bedrooms at BLT and Kidani meet our needs great since there are two bathrooms) and AoA suites, but love POR and would like to step up from a value (although we love AoA and skyliner so it's a trade off- but would also like to go back to the environment of POR, the pool with a slide, shadier walkways etc) and try two connecting rooms.

I wish there was a 1 bedroom villa with two bathrooms somewhere other than BLT or Kidani! Kidani I love but my family feels is too far out there and they don't love the food options right htere, and the other is so expensive! And a two bedroom at OKW/SSR is viable but not much cheaper than BLT, which we prefer, so doesn't seem worth it...

My girls have shared a bed for 4 years in a row (doubles for the two years at AoA) and they will do it again, it just feels dumb to me to make them share and then have an empty bed in our room. They'll definitely try to stick their little brother in there. :) But I snore sometimes and we just do not share a room with any of the kids well at. all. Everyone ends up tired and cranky.

I might just book two fifth sleepers since that will at least give them all their own beds in their room...there don't seem to be a lot of king rooms in AB so it's probably not worth the risk.
