I live here(Sarasota) and many, many people have that same opinion(as well as some others) on this situation.

The story supposedly goes like this: Carlie spent the night at a girlfriends house, around 6pm the next day she told the mother of the girlfriend that she had permission to walk home and left. Girlfriends mother calls Carlie's mother and finds out Carlie does not have permission to walk, stepfather goes out looking and can't find her. This walk was about a mile on a very busy 6 lane road at dusk. I wonder why Carlie chose to walk. Obviously there was someone available to drive her. Doesn't that make you wonder?

I don't mean to say I don't feel awful for this family because I do. I also have an 11 year old daughter who has many friends who know this girl. It happened about 2 miles from my house and the kids are really, really freaked out about it.

I heard that the FBI had taken her computer to try to determine if she had been chatting with anyone. God, I hope that she didn't make plans to meet this guy.
