Very safe, very clean, I-95 hotel?

I'm looking for suggestions for an extremely clean and very safe hotel along the 95 in south Virginia or North Carolina. I keep reading horror stories and that a brand name is no guarantee of a decent hotel. Cost isn't a factor. Any suggestions?

I would figure out how far you're likely to drive, then check www.tripadvisor.com for hotel reviews in that area.

We stayed at a Comfort Inn off 95 in Rocky Point, NC. It was clean and decent. Do not stay at the Holiday Inn next to it. It was just plain dirty. Tripadvisor is a good research tool so you can find other decent hotels.

Stayed at Holiday Inn in Emporia also was fine. Also, have stayed at Best Western at the North Carolina border with Virginia no problems.

Stayed at a Hampton Inn in Rocky Mount, NC 2x. Clean and that hotel had one of the better cont. breakfasts I've had. We usually get the king study (King bed and a sofa bed).

We always stay at Best Western Emporia Va. Been safe and clean each time.

Stayed at a Hampton Inn in Rocky Mount, NC 2x. Clean and that hotel had one of the better cont. breakfasts I've had. We usually get the king study (King bed and a sofa bed).

We've stayed there a couple times as well, agreed it's a great hotel. We also like the Hampton Inn in Emporia, VA.

Hampton Inn seems to be a good choice. Last year we stayed at one in Richmond Hills, GA near Savannah. Inside corridors, clean and safe. They mostly cater to business travellers. Free continental breakfast too.
